Published by The Times Herald from May 7 to May 8, 2012.
Joseph M. Chiarolanza, 86, of Eagleville, formerly of Germantown, went to be with his Lord May 3, 2012. He is survived by his loving companion of 26 years, Rose Carfagno. Born August 18, 1925 in Philadelphia, Joseph was the youngest son of the late Joseph and Mary (Manzo) Chiarolanza. Mr. Chiarolanza worked as a cement mason for over 50 years and was a dedicated member of the Cement Masons Union Local #592. He was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Norristown. Joseph's greatest passion, however, was ballroom dancing. In addition to his companion, Joseph is survived by three children, Glenn J. Chiarolanza and his wife, LeeAnn, of Peoria, AZ, Joseph M. Chiarolanza and his wife, JoAnn, of Lansdale, and Marialisa Chiarolanza-Valera and her husband, Timothy, of Glenside; 13 grandchildren; and 14 beloved great-grandchildren. Mr. Chiarolanza was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie (Wilenchik) Chiarolanza, who died in 1985, and a son, George S. Chiarolanza, who died in 1993. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Manuel, John, and Paul Chiarolanza. Joseph's Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446, where friends may greet the family after 9 AM. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are by Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.

Rose, I am so sorry to learn of Joe's passing. I am sure he will be missed by you, your family and friends. You made such a nice couple and your dancing was so great. Joe always had a smile for everyone and was so outgoing. He'll be dancing in heaven for sure. May he rest in peace.

Dear Aunt Roe:
Bill and I are so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Joe was a kind and lovely man who always thought of others first. During my Mom's illness, he was so kind as to go with us to her pre-admission testing in order that we may find our way w/o too much trouble. Also, let's not forget that he was a fabulous dancer! You two should have made an appearance on DTWS. You would have won the trophy! Move over Maks and Melissa! Again, we are truly sorry for your loss.
Love you, Niece Geri and Bill

Karen, I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Your mother made his last many years so happy not only being a part of his life, but his dance partner . They kept each other young and shared what few ever have. I'm sure he'll keep dancing.....and pray your mother handles this with the strength she handled so many other things in her life. She is a beautiful woman, and I'm sure she will miss him dearly. At those time, remind her how happy she made him. Thinking of you, with much love.
