Joseph Cimino Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 20, 2025.
Joseph Anthony "Joe" Cimino, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, with his family by his side. The cause of death was complications from prostate cancer. He was 62 and lived in Manhattan, New York and Redding, Connecticut.
Joe was born on September 17, 1962, the middle child of seven, at Misericordia Hospital in the Bronx, New York, to Margaret Mary "Peggy" (née Langan) and Dr. Joseph Anthony Cimino. He was a graduate of Sleepy Hollow High School and Dickinson College, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, Raven's Claw Society, co-captained the lacrosse team and, most importantly, met the love of his life, Cindy Hall.
Joe worked as a sound and film editor at Spin Cycle Post, a prop master for Theatre Works USA, and Director of Operations for Grahame Fowler. He was a polymath and could seemingly fix, mend, and build anything, and often did so at their Connecticut home, as well as for many of his children's school events. His greatest passion was his family and spending time with Cindy and their children, Nicolas and Natalie.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, decency and kindness, and the memories of many barbecues, swim parties, bonfires, hikes in Pocantico and Connecticut, long conversations, funny stories, fraternal counsel and practical advice.
He is survived by his wife Cindy; children Nicolas and Natalie; mother Peggy; mother-in-law Edith Hall Friedheim; siblings Andrea Cimino, Laura (Richard) Colella, Lisa (Vincent) Gandolfo, Meg Cimino (Jaime Wolf) and John Cimino; sister-in-law Lisa Hall (Alex Platero); nieces Margaret and Stella; nephews Cameron (Cameron Rose), Jesse, Vincent, Joe, Matthew and Joseph; and the Langan and Cimino families.
His father Dr. Cimino, father-in-law Richard Hall, sister Linda Marie Cimino, and beloved cockapoo Lilly predeceased Joe.
The family held a private memorial service.
