Joseph Christian Coleman, 44 of Rushville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 23, 2023, in Indianapolis.
He was born March 25, 1978, in Indianapolis, to Lynn Allen Coleman and Judith Ann (Lee) Coleman. He was a 1997 graduate of Huntington High School in Huntington, where he participated in basketball and track and field. He also attended classes at IUPUI Fort Wayne.
Joseph had been a high voltage electrical repair specialist for Horner Industrial Group in Indianapolis since July of 2018. He was previously employed at Square D by Schneider Electric USA in Huntington. Joe was passionate about animal rescue and enjoyed spending time with his four pets Mopar, Moocha, Pete and Fleming. He shared an interest of classic cars with his father. Some of his favorite times were spent with family and friends just relaxing together, cooking, playing games and watching movies. He especially enjoyed being a Star Wars fan.
Survivors include his parents Lynn Allen Coleman and Judith Ann (Lee) Coleman of Franklin, IN, sisters Pam L. Kruger (Charles E. Jr.) of Bargersville, IN and Tamara L. Illig (Ned) of Troy, MO, his partner Joshua C. Siege of Indianapolis, IN, nieces and nephews Kimber Kruger, Nicholle Kruger, Michael Kruger, Michael Gregory (Samantha), Matthew Illig, Madison Illig, and Maggie Mae Illig, great niece Charlie Gregory and great nephew Gatlin.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Leon and Louise (Heck) Coleman and maternal grandparents John and June (Smith) Lee.
Father Tim DeCrane will conduct a service on Friday, March 31, at 7 p.m. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, and will be live-streamed at www.swartz mortuary.com.
Friends may call Friday from 3 p.m. until service time at the mortuary. The family request memorial contributions be made to the Orange County Humane Society 856 North Greenbriar Drive, Paoli, IN 47454.

We all were so blessed to know a man who loved and believed in each of us as much as Joe did. He is loved and missed each and every day. Joe genuinely saw the best in all of us because his heart was pure & filled with love. We all should strive to be half the man he was. God bless and keep you Joe.
