Joseph Crummy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 12 to Jan. 13, 2004.
Joseph RobertCrummy 6/9/1965 ~ 1/9/2004  Joseph Robert Crummy, age 38, of Salt Lake City, UT, was violently taken from his dear wife and family Friday, January 9, 2004, in Lehi, UT., as an innocent victim of a senseless act of violence. Joseph was born June 9, 1965 in Medford, New York, to Edward and Carmela Crummy. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in May of 2002. On July 29, 2002, he married Brenda Ward, in Salt Lake City, UT. He had just received the Melchizedek Priesthood and was preparing for Temple Ordinances. He loved Brenda and loved spending time with his family. His sweet, kind, and humble personality was felt by all. He was generous and unselfish with his time and talents. He was a dedicated and loving father and stepfather and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his second child. He owned his own contracting business. He loved the outdoors and especially deep-sea fishing. We love him and are so grateful that his influence continues to bless our lives. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; children, Meghan Crummy, Leisl Roberts, Luke Roberts, Porter Roberts, and Trevor Joe Crummy (due Jan. 2004); mother, Carmela, and stepfather, Nick Petroro; brothers, Domenick (Joyce), Edward (Elizabeth); and sister, Angela (William) Grayson; Brenda's parents; brothers and sisters, and their spouses; as well as many other family members and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Crummy. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday, January 14, 2004, 12 noon at the East Millcreek 12thWard, 3103 E. Craig Drive (3600 S.). Friends and family may call Tuesday evening, from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., and at the church Wednesday from 11-11:45 a.nm. prior to the services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the "Roberts children and Trevor Crummy Donation Account" at any Zions Bank Branch or at the Zions Bank Main Office, One South Main, SLC, UT. 84111.

Dear Megan, Jessica, Rachel, Christina and Vickie,

I am so sorry for your loss. You have gone through so much in the past couple years. My heart goes out to you all. I wish that there were some way to make this easier for you. Vickie, I am reminded of the many times that Joe would bring breakfast to you at work and would often include an extra sandwich just incase someone else missed breakfast. For so many years Joe was so lovingly involved in all of his girls lives and so proud of their accomplishments. You are all so blessed with these beautiful memories.

Love, Kay

Dear Meghan, baby Trevor and family, we are so sorry for your loss, your dad was truly a special man, I loved the relationship he had with you. We knew him from the softball field and playing kickball over at Coach Buddy's. Meghan, I pray that you can make it thru this hard time in your life and grow up to be the ray of sunshine that your dad loved in you. I also pray that you and your new baby brother Trevor have that special bond you and your dad always showed to everyone. Our deepest sympathies are with you and all of your family.

May God Bless Meghan, Christina, Rachel, Jessica and Vickie they will forever be in our thoughts and prayers during this time of their loss. We knew Joe such a short time and considered him a dear friend. We will cherish those memories that Gary and our little family had with him (a loving father and a caring friend). Our Twins Taylor and Travis were born June 9, 2001 on Joes' Birthday (which I know he took great delight in this, since children always seemed to love Joe)and with that common bond he will forever live in our hearts.

My daddy was the best daddy in the world. He was my soccer & softball coach. Me and daddy went to the school to play basketball and he ate lunch with me at school alot. Sometimes he went on field trips with me at school. After my daddy moved to Utah, he still called me on the phone at least 2 times a day and came to see me every other week. I loved my daddy a lot. I know he is in heaven looking at me and Trevor every day. I will miss him all the time. I love you daddy.

Joe will always be remembered as a gentle giant. He loved each member of his family very much and showed it through phone calls, visits, and sharing his time. He also volunteered in the community and helped many people on many occasions. Even though I only knew Joe for a couple years, I'll always remember him and his GREAT FAMILY! I'll always try and help them out and I know God will continue to watch over them.

I am Joe's sister and just wanted to say what a great brother he was. We had so many good times together and so many more to go. This sudden tragedy has broken my heart. The only way I can deal with this pain is by thinking about what Joe would have wanted me to do for him after his death. I deeply believe that he would have wanted me to make sure that Megan & Trevor grow up to be as close as we were. Even closer. So I've decided to start a travel fund in Joe's honor for Megan and her Grandma to visit Utah as often as possible so that the children will grow up knowing and loving each other. Anyone who wants to contribute to this fund can contact me at my e-mail address or at home at 954-438-0529. I want to keep Joe alive through his children.

I was very saddened to hear about Joe. I knew him through the softball association where my daughter played. Unfortunately I did not know Joe very well as my daughter was not on his team. I do remember however, that he always conducted himself in a very calm manner and a positive influence on his players. Please accept our sincere sympathies.

Brenda

My prayers are with your family in Utah and I hope that yours are with ours in Georgia as well. We mourn Joe's death here also. I was married to Joe 10 years of my life and have many fond memories of him. The most beautiful treasure is Meghan and she misses her daddy terribly. Christina, Rachel & Jessica loved him too, he was their step father and was very good to them during the marriage. Someday, Meghan wants to tell Trevor what a wonderful father they have. She has so many stories to share with him. My prayers are with you. God Bless.
