Dear Helen and Family,

Learning of dear Joseph's death shocked and saddened me. His friendship with my husband, Fred, also a refugee from Nazi Germany, was enriching. His role as a member of the Israel Heritage Room Scholarship panels for many years brought us even closer together.

No one can ever replace his unique and compassionate place in my life.

Please accept my warmest condolences to you and your family.

As ever,
