Joseph E. Eidel, Sr., age 69 of Brick, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, March 3rd, 2023, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Joe was born on October 12th, 1953, in Newark, NJ and raised in Asbury Park and Ocean, NJ. He graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School before starting a family. He lived in Manahawkin before relocating to Brick in 1984. He was employed for many years by Hess Corporation and later as an Insurance Adjuster for Selective Insurance Company in Branchville, NJ.
Joe was everyone’s favorite. The epitome of “cool”, he was handsome, charming, gregarious, genuine, strong, masculine and had a sense of humor that lit up the room. For a man of relatively short stature, Joe stood tall. He honorably and admirably embraced a dual role of peacekeeper and fierce protector. His love and loyalty to family were unwavering. Modest by nature, he was the rare self-assured man who was authentically happy for the success of those around him. Joe was there when it mattered most; to celebrate, mourn, protect, or to simply lend a hand.
A man of broad knowledge and many talents, Joe was resourceful, creative, mechanically and technologically inclined, well-spoken, and an effective writer and storyteller. He adored his family and proudly adopted the role of family historian in a commendable effort to capture and preserve family memories and photos for generations to come. He also enjoyed coaching youth athletes with whom he created countless indelible memories.
Joe enjoyed the simple things in life. Some of his favorites included a good cup of coffee, Carvel night, a well-decorated Christmas tree, cracking jokes, a well-placed curveball, trips down memory lane with friends and family, oldies music, classic cars, sports and politics, playing catch, scaring the heck out of trick-or-treaters on Halloween (or anybody at any time, really), keeping up with advances in technology, providing history and context for family photos, and, above all, ensuring his family was safe and had everything they needed
Joe was predeceased by his father, John Eidel, Sr. and his mother Patricia (Manning) Webb. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Paulette D. (Celauro) Eidel; two sons, Joseph E. Eidel, Jr. of Wesley Chapel, FL and Ryan M. Eidel (Bianca) of Point Pleasant, NJ; three step-daughters, Kristy Henninger (Art) Beachwood, NJ, Joelene Nuara (Thomas) Beachwood, NJ and Gina Machinga (Chris) of Toms River, NJ; his brothers, John “Jack” Eidel, Jr. (Mary Jo) of Brick, NJ and James “Jimmy” Eidel (Donna) of Venice, FL; his sisters, Theresa Abenante (Frank) and Mary Dandrea (Steven), both of Longport, NJ; seven loving grandchildren, Thomas, Lexa, Sienna, Alexander, Briella, Ava and Ryan; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Friends may attend a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, March 11th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home – 885 Mantoloking Rd. Brick, NJ 08723. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers, can be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105-3678 OR to the Make A Wish Foundation of New Jersey - 1384 Perrineville Rd, Monroe Township, NJ 08831. I want to offer my family's deepest sympathy to the Eidel family. All of my memories of growing up and being with Joey. Our gang of cousins would go to the beach , boardwalk or just hangout. We all had such fun together. Joey will be missed but I know he will be with our large Manning family in heaven.

Although I have not seen my Cousin, Joey, in many years, we were able to connect on Facebook. I enjoyed his sense of humor, his funny memes, his love of family, and his good sense of politics. I will greatly miss him.

Dearest Joe, I will miss and mourn you so much. Your laughs and fun, memories of youth and you as protector of me on the Borough Buses going to RBC. My brother will be there to greet you, I'm sure. Tell him how you saved my life. He will be so proud of you. God bless you and find your star in heaven, my friend. You certainly have earned it.
Love,
Donna

He made my life happy . Always a man of his word and loyal and trusting. I couldn’t ask for a better Brother- in - Law. Funny. Always sensitive of the different personalities in the room. Made us all feel important and was a master at diffusing our differences. I loved him with all my heart, and he knew it. RIP Joe❤
