Dr. Fields was the nicest man. As a student at marywood university in the communcations department, I had to interview him for a project I was doing for the college of creative arts and management. I remember he was full of passion and zeal for life. I learned of his death today, and I am deeply saddened. Marywood will always remember you, Dr. Fields and we are keeping your music alive.

Tammy and I were shocked and saddened to learn of Joe's untimely death. He was a gentle soul, and a true musician in every sense of the word. I so much enjoyed performing under his direction in the Marywood Orchestra, he leaves a void that will be very difficult to fill. I'll always remember the first time I played under Joe, there was such a positive and nuturing musical energy there, it was wonderful to be a part of it. I will think of him often, and miss him.
