I first met Father Joe in 1964 at Our Lady of Grace School when OLG first opened. Through the years at OLG he became a close personal friend of mine. My friendship extended and included many personal and family gatherings where he was always a true part of the family on every occasion. His visits always included his ever present wit, charm, and his sincere interest in all members of the family. The memories of this special person will always linger in my heart.

One of my fondest memories of Fr Fitz was when he would allow my brother, sister and myself to swing from the ropes as we rang the church bells after 7:30 Mass on Sunday mornings at OLG. Slan abhaile, dear Fr Fitz.

It is with sincere sadness...that I will no longer hear..."Hey whisle britches...."... will I ever forget it? No... it will make me smile all the rest of my days. We will not be able to attend the services...but will have ya'll in our hearts and prayers.

I first met Father Joe at St. Theresa's when he first became a priest. I always marveled at his use of the English language and always enjoyed listening to his sermons. He truly was a wonderful man.

I met Father Fitzgerald when I entered the First Grade at Our Lady of Grace School. He became an instant friend of our family, William and Joan Browne, and would often visit the "house on the hill" for a quick meal. Through the 40 years I have known Father Fitz he has baptized sibblings of mine, married family members, and we were honored with him celebrating my mother's life at OLG with the most beautiful service. Memories of his sence of humor, traditions, and dedication to family, friends, his church, and most of all his God will remain with me forever. My condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed.

Our family was saddened to learn of Monsignor Joe's death. We knew him very well from St.Lawrence School, golf tournaments and the "famous" St. Lawrence Carnival every summer! He was always the life of the party and will be missed by anyone blessed enough to have made his acquaintance. Our condolences go out to his family and close friends.

"Fr. Fitz" was a fun, loving and very holy man. I met him 40 years ago at Our Lady of Grace Church in
Stfd. He always had a smile on his
face and had the "gift of gab"!! I am eternally grateful I was able to see "Fr Fitz" on Saturday to say my last good byes to him. It was a great day for the Irish and every one, the day Josheph Fitzgerald was
born. My condolences go out to all of his family. I will greatly miss
him.

Father Joe has been in my life since we were kids. I have wonderful memories of our childhood days from Elm Street. As we grew older, he was always there for me as a friend and Pastor. I am comforted to know that he is in the presence of the Lord.

I am sad to hear the news of Monsignor's passing. He was a wonderful man whom always had a smile and a few minutes to talk when we saw each other at the deli for morning coffee. He will be missed.
