Joseph Gagliano Obituary

Published by Chicago Tribune on Jan. 22, 2017.
Joseph, "Joe", Gagliano, 81, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Saturday, January 14th, 2017. He was born on December 27, 1935, the youngest of 7 children to parents Giuseppe and Croce Gagliano in Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by 5 of his siblings, and his eldest sister Josephine resides in San Antonio Texas. He was a twenty-five year resident of Las Vegas, Nevada. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 51 strong years, Rose Lee (Giammarese), children Chrisetta Rush (Art), Joseph (Tracy), and Nicholas. His (8) grandchildren: Anthony (Jordyn), Gianna, Nicholas, Raina, Joseph/Jo Jo, Peyton, Dominick, and Matteo, will forever cherish his wistful stories, memories, and lessons of kindness in their hearts. Joe was a 16 year veteran of the Chicago Police Department & the owner and founder of Northwest Security Service and Detective Agency. Furthermore, he was a compassionate leader, creating a ministry to feed the homeless in the Las Vegas area. His love, time, and friendship were irrevocably unconditional. As an original Chicago soul, Joe was graced with the reward of witnessing the Cubs secure a long-awaited, record-breaking World Series win. Joe conducted his life to please the Lord, and to be a barometer for others to learn from. He was truly ONE OF A KIND, leaving the world a better place than when he entered it. The entire family was blessed with the birth of the first great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Rush. As Joe and Brooklynn locked eyes, beaming from ear to ear, his life came full circle. A celebration of his life will be held at Revere Golf Club, 2600 Hampton Road, Henderson, NV 89052 on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 11:30am. Joe resiliently fought cancer, and with his spirit and heart, he defeated it. He was an avid supporter of all cancer fighters, particularly children's foundations. Moreover, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, in the name of Joseph Gagliano. They can be sent to 6574 N. State Rd. 7 #201, Coconut Creek, FL 33073 or made via the website: http://rizzo44.com/.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Joe's wife and family. Joe was the most energetic happy guy in the years I knew him in Chicago at the Boys Club. All the girls were crazy about him, he was kind, friendly and a wonderful dancer.

I knew Joe and Rose Lee from SoundPoint Audiology. I am very sad to hear that Joe has passed, he fought long and hard in his battle against cancer.
Joe and Rose Lee were favorites of mine, always happy people with stories I loved to hear.
My thoughts are with you Rose Lee and all your family.

One hell of a guy..WE had many great experiences growoing up together. He lived below me with grandpa and grandma Gagliano.
Many nights of him Aunt Anne sitting around the piano on Orchard Street. He played the piano I played the bongo and Aunt Anne and him would sing.
GREAT Times.

WE would get together on Cumberland because neither one of us had any money and play cards till dawn.
Fun times!

He was a blast especially when we had family picnics and always did his annual impression of HEINZ the catch up!!
He never could read music but could play any song on his piano or ukulele.
His favorite song to play was "By By Love". Him and Aunt Anne would harmonize and they were great!!

He was also a great mentor. He helped me survive when my father passed away at a young age.

He was and is more like a older brother than an uncle.

WE HAD GREAT TIMES.
He will be missed by many loved by all.
