CROMWELL, Conn. —

Carl Arnold Swanson, 93, of Cromwell, Conn., husband of Edna (Ribbe) Swanson, died Monday, July 19, 2010 in Middletown, Conn.

Born in Attleboro, Mass., he was the son of the late Carl A. and Anna (Larson) Swanson. He lived in Needham, Mass., East Dennis, Mass. and Boca Raton, Fla. before moving to Cromwell six years ago. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. Carl graduated from Wentworth Institute and later held positions at the School as an Instructor, Assistant Dean, and Dean before retiring as the Vice President for Student Affairs. He was the recipient of an honorary Doctorate Degree from the College where he was known as "Mr. Wentworth." He was a member of Cape Cod Covenant Church.

In addition to his wife Edna, he is survived by two sons, Robert Swanson and his wife Judith of Medfield, Mass. and David Swanson and his wife Sheree of Yarmouthport, Mass.; a son-in-law, Stephen Cummings of Doylestown, Penn.; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Cummings and a great-grandson Nathan Cummings.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August, 21, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Cape Cod Covenant Church, Brewster, MA. Interment will be in the Memorial Garden at Cape Cod Covenant Church, 11 Satucket Rd., Brewster, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Benevolent Care Fund at CVOC, 52 Missionary Rd., Cromwell, CT 06416, the Cape Cod Covenant Church, PO Box 219, South Dennis, MA 02660 or to the Scholarship Fund at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Institutional Advancement, 550 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
