Joseph Goncz

GONCZ, Joseph (Jozsef). 1937-2006. At the Montreal General Hospital on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at the age of sixty-nine. Beloved husband for forty-three years of Yolande Posch. Cherished father of the late Catherine, Susan (Rami Noujaim), Alexandra (late Fulvio Bolletta), Joseph Francis Jr. (Suzanne Palko). Proud grandfather of Matthew and Hannah Noujaim and Emmanuel Bolletta. He also leaves to mourn his brother-in-law Julius Posch, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Jager, Erzsebet (late Laszlo) in Hungary, Katalin (late Frank) in Alexandria, ON, and their families, as well as his in-laws, godchildren, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Joseph was an exemplary community leader of unwavering integrity, and gave of himself totally to continue God's work through the Church, especially in the Hungarian Catholic Church, the Foyer Hongrois and other Hungarian Associations. He was recipient of Monseigneur-Ignace-Bourget Merit Award in Montreal on August 15, 1990 for his work in "Renew" between the English Catholic Diocese and the Hungarian Catholic Church, he was active in the English and Hungarian Cursillo, member of Order of St. Laszlo. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Resting at Blythe Bernier Funeral Home, 940 Ogilvy (at Stuart), Park Extension, Tel. 514-495-8082. Visitation on Sunday, December 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayer Hour at 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of Hungary Church, 90 Guizot West, Montreal, Tel. 514-387-9503 on Monday, December 4 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the Church Hall, thence to Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery for burial. Our sincere thanks to the Palliative Care Unit doctors and nurses of the Montreal General Hospital for their compassionate care of Joseph. Also, our heartfelt gratitude to all who prayed, visited and supported us in our time of need, it was truly felt by the family.
