GOODWILL JOSEPH "JOE" EDWARD
Age 81, of Upper St. Clair, passed away November 4, 2015. Joe was born in Brockton, MA on April 14, 1934, to the late Jennie and Frank Goodwill. Joe graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1956 with a BS in Metallurgy. He served in the Army as an Officer in South Korea and Ft. Benning. He received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1961. He had been employed by US Steel, Allegheny Ludlum, Timet Titanium and Carnegie Mellon University. He retired from CMU in 1999 as Director of the EPRI Center for Materials Production. Joe was a beloved and cherished husband, father and grandfather. His patient and kind demeanor was an inspiration to all who knew him. His love for travel brought him to every continent of the earth. He enjoyed reading, biking, skiing, and puns. He volunteered at the American Red Cross and Friends of the Montour Trail. He was a member of the Allegheny HYP Club and Sunnyhill Unitarian Universalist Church. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy; son, Ken and daughter-in-law, Van of San Diego; daughter, Julie and son-in-law, Andy Hall of Mt. Lebanon; and grandsons, Alexander, Carter, Owen, Aidan and Everett Hall. A memorial service will be held at Sunnyhill Unitarian Universalist Church, 1240 Washington Rd., Pittsburgh, PA at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made in memory of Joe to either the American Red Cross or Sunnyhill Unitarian Universalist Church. Please add or view tributes at:
