In memory of
Derrick Bell III

I played soccer with Joe at South Eugene High. He is two years younger then I am. He was league's MVP his senior year. Definitely gone too soon. He will deeply be missed.

I played soccer with Joe at South Eugene High. Joe and Conrad Schmidt, played varsity 3 years in a row. I think the two of them should have been team captains. Since they were the most experienced players. Their senior year. Joe was also a very nice person. So sad to have lost him. He is two years younger then I am. And when the battles over, he shall wear a crown. IN the New Jerusalem. (The Kingdom of Heaven.)

My husband Sid and I have known Joe for about 20 years. He has been a friend, a supporter. I will not forget the many conversations about life, family, politics and business. Joe was a visionary and dynamic leader. Both Sid and I want the family to know how very much Joe has meant to us down through the years. We are so saddened by your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

We were both shocked and deeply saddened by learning of the passing of Joe. We first met him ten years ago when he purchased our house on Evergreen Highway. Since then we have enjoyed his friendship and have been pleased to watch as he created a beautiful estate on this property. Joe gave us some of the wine that he made from grapes I had planted thirty years ago. We have been letting this wine age, but will now open it and drink a toast to Joe and his life and friendship.
We feel blessed to have known him and extent our most sincere sympathy to his family.

Dear Peggy and family: We send our prayers to you in this most difficult time. Joe was very kind and was there for you when you needed him. I knew Joe first thru his PCS business at the hospital, then HFMA, his Kla-ha-nee neighbor and friend. You will be missed. God Bless,
Mark Russell

I came to know Joe well through the sale of one of his companies. I very much enjoyed his passion and perspectives, and feel strongly that his competitiveness and risk taking nature were the primary drivers of his success!!! I will miss our conversations and catch ups. Rest in peace Joe, you will be remembered.

Dear Peggy and family,
our heart is broken to hear about your unimaginable loss. We are so grateful that we had the brief privilege to get to know Joe during the ski trip in January. We will always remember his big sense of humor and the lovely days together on the ski slopes.
