Joseph Eugene Hefele

Joseph E Hefele, 83, of Harford Township died on February 14th, 2016. Joe died quietly at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Coatesville after a long battle with throat cancer.
Born in Allentown Pa, he was the son of the late Charles Joseph Hefele and Anna Marie (Scheers) Hefele and brother to Monica, Lucia, George, Charles, Johnny, Frances, and Tommy.
Joe was a graduate of Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa. where he received a bachelor's degree in Engineering. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Joe became a successful business man in the industrial pump field. Those that know him would agree that his success can be attributed to his strong determination, persistence, and problem solving skills.
Joe retired at his beloved home on Tyler Lake in Harford. Family and friends hold many fond memories of fishing, boating, swimming, working, working and more working, and enjoying the outdoors with Joe at Tyler Lake. In addition to the lake activities, Joe was known for his love of baseball and coaching children.
Joe was a member of the Myosetsuji Temple and practiced Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism until he became ill. He reached many people in a very deep, compassionate, selfless way especially through his Buddhist practice.
Joe is survived by four sons (David Hefele and wife Kathy, Douglas Hefele and wife Jill, Timothy Hefele, and Luke Hefele and wife Lindsey), a daughter (Cheryl Hefele Wille and husband Kent), three stepchildren (Shawn Smith, Stephanie Smith, Jason Smith), 14 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
