Joseph R. Higdon, age 88, of Clarkson, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on August 12, 1928, in Grayson County, KY, son of the late Charles and Lenora Lush Higdon.
He was an electrician and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and of the IBEW Local 369.
He is survived by his wife, Rudell Clemons Higdon, of Clarkson; a son, Tony S. Higdon, of Valley Station, KY; and two granddaughters, Katie Higdon, of Clarkson, and Elizabeth Revels, of Louisville, KY. Three sisters, Mary Catherine Grant, of Louisville, Anna Rose Messenger (Mike), of Leitchfield, KY, and Bernadette Chambers (Michael), of Short Creek, KY, also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Ray Higdon; two sisters, Helen Grant and Mildred Grant; and two brothers, William C. and James Floyd Higdon.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2017 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Peonia. Father Babu will be officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington, KY.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. CST to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. CST Monday until 9:45 a.m.
