I met Joe (Papa) through my extended family when i was a twenty year old girl visiting Boston for the first time in 1975. From that first meeting I knew that I had made lifelong friends with the Ippolito family and have deepened my love for the Ippolito family ever since. On each visit, of which there have been many, Papa always made me feel welcome and afforded me the highest honour - i felt like one of the family and have continued to feel that way over the years.

His magnanimity is legendary particularly his love of family, friends and food. I will never forget the feeling of Papa's love and generosity. Of note would be the beautiful Christmas memories made for my children when he was Santa, the hot blueberry muffins, the delicious New England Chowder and the pasta sauce - these memories just skim the surface of his deep love and generosity.

I loved him from the first and will continue to do so. Thank you Papa - you are beautiful and never forgotten.

My condolences to the Ippolito family especially to Rita, Jane and Joey.

Joe was one of the most respected administrators of BPS. His career was marked by the quality of his caring for the children, staff who worked for him and with him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye. I had the chance to know him over many years and in different roles. A fine man and a member of that "greatest generation". Rest in peace.

My cousin! Oh, how sad I am to hear of your passing.... you were a legend to us -- you were gifted and talented and such a character - I loved you to pieces even if from afar.....I got to know you as an adult at my grandmother, Marie Susan Ippolito Morgan's, birthday parties! I so enjoyed our conversations about family and your trips to Italy. It is a sad day here on earth - but in heaven there is a family reunion and heaven welcomes you with open arms.

I will miss you cousin Joe!!!

Rita, and family, no words can say how sorry I am for your loss of such a wounderful person. I love this man, from the first day I met him, he inspired me. The love he had for his family, I am so happy and proud he was my friend, I called him my boyfriend, when I would talk to my husband about him. He will be missed so much. He had a way to make everyone feel like family, a true belonging, He embraced my husband like a brother, he truely knew the meaning of friendship. Thank you Ippolito family, for sharing Joe, I will miss you my boyfriend, love you Rosemary
