Joseph Jacobson

Joseph Jacobson Jr., of Cape Canaveral, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 1, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 1, 1948, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph Jacobson and Elsie Pedersen Jacobson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a communication specialist in the 52nd Signal Battalion, including a tour in Vietnam. Following his military service, Joseph embarked on a career as a Merchant Mariner, where he forged two lifelong friendships with Ray Lee and John Torkildsen. He was also a proud and active member of the Cape Canaveral VFW Post #10131, where he enjoyed sharing a good joke, a cold beer, and the camaraderie of his fellow veterans. A lifelong fan of John Wayne movies, Joseph will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elsie Pedersen Jacobson, and his brother, Thomas Jacobson. He is survived by his loving sister, Diane Bekkelund (Kenneth); his devoted sons, Erik (Jaycie) Jacobson and Joseph B. Jacobson; his cherished daughter, Karin Jacobson; and his beloved grandchildren, Alisha, Alana, Abigail, and Thomas.

Services for Joseph will be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, with a celebration of life to follow at the Cape Canaveral VFW Post #10131. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Joseph's memory to the Cape Canaveral VFW Post #10131.
