We moved to California in 1965 and joined St. Phillips Parish Pat and Joe Kay befriended my parents, Marie and Ed Ward. We lived in Belhurst and joined LCC. I was one of 12 kids. My father dies unexpectedly after our first year in CA and I have such a strong memory of Joe and Pat Kay being so kind and always "checking on us". We moved to Fullerton and lost touch with the Kays. Serendipitously, when both Geralyn and I attended Rosary High School (Class of 78), the Kays were back in my life. I remember an annual event at the school that for a young girl without a Dad always felt awkward and a little sad to me. Well along came Joe Kay who made sure I could attend and he and sweet Geralyn invited me to the Father-Daughter Dinner Dance. He told me stories about my Dad that I didn't know and these stories meant and mean so much to me. What a gift that I could see truly how loved and happy and full of life my Dad was and how he enjoyed golfing with Joe. So my deep condolences to Geralyn, Pat, and all of the Kay family. I hold you all in my heart and pray for you as you remember your Dad and please know I too remember the kindness, generosity, and thoughtful way he touched my life.

Joe Kay was one of a kind! Seemingly endless energy, always with a twinkle in his eye. A devoted husband, father and Catholic volunteer who set an example of humble giving to help others at all times throughout his life. Joe will be missed, but not forgotten! His legacy lives within his children, grand children and great grandchildren. Love and Prayers to the entire Kay family.

Joe's obituary lists many praiseworthy accomplishments and activities and the sum of them portray the active, caring, and involved man he was. We also want to note that he, with Pat's help (ahem!), was about as good a dad as any family of seven kids could want. Thanks Joe and Pat for your friendship. Ora pro nobis.

What an amazing life of devotion and dedication Joe Kay led. He certainly made the world a better place. We'll miss him, but God has bigger plans for him in Heaven.
We've been praying for him and all of the Kay Family.
See you all on Friday, 10/14.
