Joseph "Joe" Henry Lewis, 68, of Coatesville, PA, formerly of Raleigh, passed away peacefully on, Friday, August 31, 2012 at Coatesville VA Medical Center. Joe was born in Wake County to the late John Gary Lewis, Sr. and Kathleen Godwin Lewis. Joe served his country in the United States Marines and was in active combat in Vietnam. He was the 1st World Kick Boxing Champion and World Karate Champion. Joe was a Black Belt and a martial arts master teacher. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel,944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. Burial: New Knightdale Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors Surviving: Son: Joseph Cameron Lewis Daughter: Kristina Ruth Lewis both of Wake Forest Brother: Paul Lewis of Knightdale Mother of his children: Kimberly Hardegree Lewis of Wake Forest Host of nieces, nephews and special friends The Lewis family will receive relatives and friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Friday, September 7, 2012 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, Joe's family and friends request that memorial contributions be made to Department of Veterans Affairs-Hospice Unit, 1400 Black Horse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320-2096.
