I remember Joe always doing magic tricks for us four kids when we went to his house. He always kept all of us curious and smiling! He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.

We always looked forward to seeing Joe at the ballpark. He would roam throughout the crowd and visit with fans and promote the Rangers. And he loved to stop by for cookies.

I have never met a more humble and nice man in my life,if the world had more Joe Macko's it would most definitely be a better place.Heaven just received an incredible angel and some baseball team just received one heck of a new employee. You will be missed my friend.

So sorry to hear of Joes passing. He was always a gentleman and my family benefited from his kindness. I had some of the most interesting times of my life at the clubhouse with Joe. I do not remember much anymore but Joe will always be unforgettable.

Joe Macko was a first class gentleman, a great role model and someone who knew how take care of the people around him. He was the most genuine man, always with a smile on his face, and he knew how to cultivate relationships. I learned many valuable life lessons from him as a clubhouse attendant. He showed me a lot of patience and kindness, usually more than I deserved. His mighty handshake and his gentle heart are what I'll remember most about him. It was an honor to have known him and a pleasure to have worked for him. What a great ambassador for the game of baseball, the Texas Rangers and the entire Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. He will be sorely missed.

I have no doubt that Joe would give the shirt off his back. He gave me a room in his Port Charlotte apartment when I showed up at spring training in 1995 with a wild hair to try out for the replacement Rangers.

-I can't look at a Cheez-it box without thinking of him.
-I can still see his leg dangling from the golf cart as he pulls up in front of the clubhouse.
-If you're gonna shake hands, you'd better be prepared.
-Flipping his cap.

Joe, your wonderful family is an extension of who you and Dorothy have always been in my eyes. What a giving family!

Great Uncle Joe will be missed by many. Although I was never able to come and visit, I was glad the last time he came to Ohio I was able to come and visit. I still remember our group dinners to Underwood's when he came into town. He was always telling jokes and always had a smile on his face. I was glad my husband was able to meet him. I have more pictures from when I was younger in Ranger shirts than I can count. It was always a pleasure to spend time with him and Aunt Dorthy when they came to visit. I was surprised when I talked to Grandma (Katy) on Christmas Eve that he has progressed to needing more care and then my Mom's text the day after Christmas. My condolences to Mike and family.

I remember about the home runs he hit for the Dallas Eagles at old Burnett Field. I believe Bill McClanahan had a cartoon in the Dallas Morning News about 1951 which he entitled 'Macko-The Smacko.

Heartfelt condolences to the entire Macko Family. I first met Joe in the early 80's when I first moved to Texas. As a sales rep calling on the Texas Rangers, Joe was always extremely kind and helpful to me in my early career. Later when I met my wife, some of our first dates were at Smacko's where Joe and Mrs. Macko always greeted us with a smiles, handshakes, and hugs. Rest in Peace Joe, Thank-you, you will be missed!

I am so sad and sorry that I wasn't able to see Joe for many years as I had been living in Louisville until this fall. So many wonderful memories of him and the family. Whether at the Ballpark, hours and many years spent at my favorite all time hang out, Smacko's, working all of the Steve Macko runs, Steve's Memorial baseball tournament at Baylor, Smacko's annual golf tournament's, Smacko's softball games, Spring training in Florida and so many other wonderful memories. He was just the nicest man and would do most anything for his friends, players, and especially his family. He had such a big and kind heart, and will be truly missed by everyone who had the good fortune to have known Joe and to call him friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you Karen, Mike, Linda and your families. RIP my friend.
