Joseph Mangieri Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 7 to Jun. 10, 2014.
Mangieri, Joseph

Joseph Mangieri was pulled from his earthly place Thursday morning, June 5, 2014 discharging the strongest battle and fiercest resistance he ever possessed and delivered in his too short life. His enormous heart whose powers always made us laugh, sadly fell to sleep that morning. The telephone call to mommy's baby Joseph aka daddy's Joefiss was the last he heard on this earth. Joseph was born a Bronx Guy, raised in "YO" Yonkers, and ultimately a lifelong resident of Graceland. A football warrior for Mt. St. Michael, and a Top seated student of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He created the "U" in the word Uncle, as he made each and every niece and nephew convinced that they, alone, were his favorite, and guess what, "they were." If he wasn't your uncle, you wished he was. He led the charge at The University of New Hampshire for a 5 year D1 Football Season into National Playoffs, and the College World Series Contending Greyhounds of Moravian College continue to begin each softball game with the slogan Joe coined: "Release the Hounds." If you didn't Know him, you knew of him, and if you knew of him, you never forgot him. He lights up many a dark room, mends many a broken heart, and breaks many a throbbing heart. How Ironic. He taught Elvis how to gyrate and Jagger how to scream. He is the meaning and definition of "Cool as Moose, and Twice as Hairy in the Summer." A bondman and servant to fashion and Protocol, as his actual name was: Whip Heathcliff Burlington III of the Charleston Burlingtons. An absolute stickler and social advocate on Political Incorrectness. Laughs louder than his Harley bellows, and drives fast…A lot. He sets the standard for his surname, by putting the "mangia" in Mangieri. Black and Blue Prime is his victim of choice. He is Fun, Fun, Fun, and loves the Sun, Sun, Sun. His so large, so genuine heart and soul enamours many a person and creature. He is compassionate, dependable, and dangerously attractive to women. His appetite for good times led to the fateful grilled demise of many a tender steer. He had 7 offices in the 70's: Fudgies, The Milkey Way, Hoops, 2001, The Lollipop, Peachtrees, and Marty and Lenny's, with satellite locations in Fort Lauderdale, and Miami and Sturgis, SD. The beach is his dancefloor, and runway for his summer fashion line up. Extend the word "Party" to the exponential 1,000,000 th power, and that is a small fraction of his Virtue. Friends and neighbors annually marvel cheek to jowel in December snow to admire his front yard Christmas magic. He is smiles, sexy, naughty, and nice. His so many best friends include Rocco, Bruno, Brando, Pork Chop, Bella, Mocha, Sambucca, Catcher, Rosie, Boss, Remi, Harley, Whiskey, and San Gria, oh yea, and Skipper.

He is survived by his mother, Marie Mangieri; his brothers and best friends, Robert and Paul Mangieri, and Jimmy O'Connor, Johnny D, George and Pat Miele; his sisters, Cathy Mangieri, Lisa Mangieri, Dianne Miele and Simone O'Connor; his adoring and adored nieces and nephews, Pauli, Alexis, Robbie, Nicole, Deanna, Mickey, Greg, Lauren, Steven and grandnephew, Rocky. He was actually their Dad. And his loving partner, Adrienn Siatta. His many Aunts, Uncles and Friends in the Thousands.

He is so loved, Celebrate his life do not grieve his death.

Services will be held at Sinatra Funeral Home, 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, NY. (914 963 5263) Sunday and Monday, June 8-9, Viewing 2-4, and 7-9. Tuesday, 10 A.M. Mass of the Resurrection at St. Eugene's RC church, In lieu of any donation, Joseph Loves Flowers.

Dear Joe, my memories of the 70's are vivid in my mind!! Whenever i think of you...its always about a laughable happy time! That was just you; always putting smiles on your friends faces...the years went by and when we met here & there we would reminisce & tell one story after another! Uncle Joe, where do I even begin? Uncle Joe was a second father to me. He is my God Father and was a huge part of my life. I miss him more than anything. The summers sharing a house in LBI, summer barbecues, phone calls, everything. Ever since I can remember, I remember how excited I got to see Uncle Joe. He truly was part of our family. My father and him shared a special bond of true friendship and I am so happy that I was a part of it. I remember when I was in about 5th grade, I pulled into my driveway with my mom in our old red Jeep Wrangler, and I saw Uncle Joe's car in the driveway. I jumped out of the moving car and ran into the backyard to jump into his arms. Spending time with him hold some of my favorite memories and I love Uncle Joe so dearly, and miss him more everyday. The last words I heard from Uncle Joe were him telling him how proud he is of me and the women I am becoming and I strive to continue this everyday because I know he is always watching down on me, and I want to make him proud. I love you so much Uncle Joe
p.s. "WHAT YOU'RE DOING IS ILLEGAL!" I cherish all of our LBI memories where this quote could always be evident!

Joe,

You loved movies and you loved East Hampton. Today when I look to my left, all I see is an empty seat. You're not there to explain to me a particular scene or clarify the meaning at the end of the movie. Eating popcorn alone just doesn't taste as good.

I will never understand WHY you had to leave and without notice. Joe, you are my constant thought and forever I will live with a hole in my heart.

Thinking of you as I attend the film festival this weekend.

Forever Love,
Adrienn

I really don't know where to begin thanking you for your endless love ,energy, excitement ,laughter & fun times you brought to not only my sister Adrienn but also my family . You left us all too soon, but I can also say you left your mark and will never be forgotten. Every time we were together, it was an adventure. It didn't matter if we were at your pool, in East Hampton, LBI, walking around a craft festival, or going to a garage sale, you made it fun. I also want to thankyou for loving my sister as much as you did. You were happiest doing things to make her happy. I know she loved it and she also brought out the best in you. We would love when you and Adrienn would come back from one of your many adventurous trips and tell us the funniest stories that only could happen with you. I'm glad Adrienn was always taking pictures and videos (more videos then AFV) that we can look back on, reminisce and smile. I'm sure by now your hanging out with Elvis and he is saying "We needed another legend up here, welcome to heaven Joe"
Love, Francine

Joe,
Words can not describe the happiness you brought to my family and my life over the years. You loved showing others a good time, an invaluable trait that consequently attracted people to you at all times. From ski trips, to beaches and of course your legendary setup in your backyard, hanging out with you was always an awesome time. I still cant believe how good you are at snowboarding, you flew by me going down a black diamond like it was no big deal. You will always have a spot in my heart and we keep your legend alive down here by telling your stories and listening to Elvis.
Love you Bro
Rest in Peace, Heaven is happy to have you

Joe - I want to thank you for teaching me how to find the beauty in everyday life. You showed me how to make the most of our world and your love and energy was a powerful force for all of us. I know I will never meet someone again like you, but I also know I am a different person because of you! You have taught me how to celebrate life. Whether it was at All You Can Eat Hibachi or on the couch in the Hamptons, every moment with you was a special one. In every moment I spent with you, I had the world's biggest smile on my face (see picture for evidence!). You have left me with this wonderful lens through which I am now able to look at my world. I am forever thankful for that. I am still having so much trouble with you being gone, but I know how lucky heaven is to have you. And I know you're doing great things up there. Finally, I want to thank you for making my beautiful Aunt Adrienn the happiest and luckiest girl in the world. I am blessed to have witnessed the countless number of smiles you put on her face and the infinite amount of love you gave to her heart. You are so incredibly missed down here, but also so incredibly loved. We are so thankful for you and your love for life. Heaven recieved one awesome guy. Love you forever, Joe!

It was 1987 when I met her and I first heard your name. Many years and many stories later, outside the Candlelight Inn in Scarsdale, New York, the spring of 1995, I had the pleasure to meet you. Putting a face to the name Joe Mangieri put a big smile on my face, but not half as big as the smile and sparkle on her face when she introduced us.

I had no idea that over the next 19 years you would become such a special person to me, as well, and that we would share many years together. The memories I, as well as so many people, have of you will forever be cherished and always continue to bring that smile to my face like it did on that spring day we met. You were absolutely bigger than life, Joe, and you are missed more than words could describe.

Thank you for being a friend, thank you for all the laughter, thank you for being the shinning star you will always be, but most of all thank you for loving her so much, that girl who introduced us,,,your love of life and my dear friend,,,Adrienn. You will always be her love of life, as well, Joe..Wild Horses Couldn't Drag You Away

Rest In Peace, my friend
Heaven has yet another angel xo

Your smile and personality was electric and you had an everlasting positive effect on everyone that was fortunate enough to meet you in their lives. Joe will always live on in my heart and Gary, Dina and Francesca's hearts. I know I whispered this to you in the hospital but again I'd like to thank you for all the love, fun, laughter and beautiful times we experienced and for loving my sister as deeply and passionately as you did. You always took care of Adrienn in ways that made me smile. You both truly are soul-mates and the love of each other's life. You were happy making Adrienn happy and I loved that. You are a rock star with a heart larger than life. We will miss you so much!! I also thank you for the constant signs you've been sending us. I know your soul lives on and is always with my sister and that too I cherish. Thank you Joe....see you in heaven.... Suzann, Gary, Dina and Francesca 43

Joseph,

I know you'll be at the Christmas Tree Stand this December because we need the flagels from Highridge, and I'm not certain where you bought them.
We also need you there to keep me Smilin' and Jolly.
Too many children expect you to pick out their tree.
And I know you won't disappoint them. You always chose the best tree for each family, and Every One Always Came Back Year After Year. They came to see YOU. So, all 500 of us will see ya then.
Don't forget the coffee.

Back in the day I threw the parties (and great parties they were) but Joe MADE the parties. He could light up a room like nobody else. His big smile, his crazy moves and his wacky sense of humor were infectious. He was truly unique and I never ever heard anyone say a bad word about him.
Adrienne I grieve for your loss. Rob and Paul, to the extent that he was like our brother, sharing a special niche in so many lives, I can only imagine what you feel losing him.

My heart is heavy as I come to learn of Joesph's passing. As I read these sentiments, a lot of them say similar things. That's because to all that knew Joseph, knew the same guy. One in a million, a laugh a minute, a smile that lights up any room. His family and friends meant the world to him, and he the same to them.

My heart felt condolences to Marie, Paul, Robert, and all of his loving family and friends. You were one hell of a guy, and will not be forgotten!

God Bless and Rest in Peace!
