I remember Father Joe so fondly as our pastor at St. Agatha chuch for many years. He gave first communion to myself and my three brothers. He was a wonderful influence in our lives. He always had time for a hug or a pat on the face. I will always remember him with fondness. My prayers and thoughts are with you Father Joe!

To the Mastrangelo family,

I remember so well when Father Joe was pastor at St. James Parish in the West End in the 60's. His sermons were the most sincere and how he loved speaking about his most loved topic, "God, Our Holy Father". Fr. Joe, truly spoke the "Word of God". He was 'one of a kind' priest. His sister, Lena was also a kind and dear women. Your family is so blessed to have such wonderful people as they. God really chose the best for here on earth, but now has another mission and that is Fr. Joe is to be by His side for eternity.

To The Mastrangelo Family:
Please accept my condolences on the passing of Father Joe. I am forever grateful for a small thing that Father Joe did while pastor of St. Agatha's in Bridgeville. I was in high school and my prospects for attending college were not very bright due to my familiy's finances. Father held a college day at St Agatha's in 1969. I went to that event and made a connection with the representative from St Vincent that led to a financial package that permitted me to attend college. I graduated from St Vincent in 1974 and my life has been blessed ever since. Thank you Father Joe.

To The Family of Father Joe,

Please accept my sincere sympathies on the death of a wonderful man.

I go back to the 1960's with Father when I was raising my family. He spent an evening at my parents home having dinner with us and my 16 month old son.

He held and blessed him and my son promptly thanked him by christening his suit and you know what I mean. Father took out his hankie and wiped himself and my baby off. Needless to say we had a good laugh. I had his hankie for many years.

God Bless you Father, I know you are sitting at the right hand of God, and please say hi to Ike for me. Tell him I love and miss him.

With Love,

Jeannine (Coudriet) Sodini

Father Joe is remembered well by the Parish of Holy Child (formerly St. Agatha) in Bridgeville.
I remember him best for his homily's the most moving of which was his annual Mother's Day presentation. To lionize the eternal quality of a mother's love he told this mythical tale. A man promises to give anything to his inamorata. She asks for his mother's head. He does so and while running to deliver it he stumbles and falls. At that moment the head is heard to cry out, "Did you hurt yourself son.".

Much more of his legacy remains with with us all as he goes to his final rest with God.

Fr. Joe and his sister Lena were very close friends of my family, along with his being the priest who served me my First Holy Communion at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. May Gods love and affection guide you through this difficult time.

Rev Joe left a mark in my heart. Growing up near his bother and sisters homes on South Mercer ST, when he would walk by he always way hello. Then when I move to Texas, when I drove to visit my parents and he saw me, he would ask when I was driving back to Texas. The morning I was to leave he always blessed my car. I am saying this because even thou I was not Catholic, he did what the Lord taught him - treat all men equal, no matter their race or religion.
