Joseph Marion Mattingly Jr.

Louisville - Mattingly, Joseph M, Jr, 78 of Louisville passed away on May 8, 2025. He was born to the late Joseph Marion Mattingly, Sr. & Dorothy Marie (Abell) Mattingly on May 20, 1946. He was a native of Louisivlle, Kentucky and was a St. Xavier High School Alumni Class of 1964. He also graduated from Bellarmine University with a Business Degree. Joe was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired from the Plastics Industry after 20 years of service. He was a member of The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He is survived by Aunts Janette Bradshaw of Louisivlle, KY and Ann Southall of Lebanon, KY, one uncle Joe Abell (Coleen) of Lexington, KY, and numerous cousins and loyal friends. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 10am at St. James Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm on Tuesday at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison Avenue. Expressions of sympathy may go to Little Sisters of the Poor or Nazareth Home Healthcare. The family would like to pay special thanks to the Baptist Health Palliative care unit and Hosparus Health, especially Sarah.
