Age 47, of Pine Township, on January 21, 2015. Loving husband and best friend of Karen (Grumbine) for 23 years; loving father of Matthew R., Michael R., and Victoria L.; beloved son of Joseph and Ellen (Conroy); admired brother of Colleen (Scott) Guldin, Michael (Jessica) McCarthy, Ellen Deasy (Jim), and Kellie McCaffrey (Scott); kind son-in-law of Richard and Linda Grumbine; caring brother-in-law of the late Keith Grumbine, and Kim Hartman (Jeff); warm-hearted uncle of Hannah, Mary and Emma Guldin, Alexandra McCarthy, George and Jack Kress, and Gabrielle and Isabella McCarthy, Corey Deasy (Christy Redman), Lauren, Grace, Olivia, and Shea Deasy, Brooke and Reese McCaffrey, Kelly and Luke Grumbine, Matt, Brian, Brandon Hartman and Trisha (Hartman) Beasley; also survived by many faithful friends and loving extended relatives. Friends will be received starting Saturday, January 24, 2015, from 1-3 p.m., then 6-8 p.m. and Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 2-5 p.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME of CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp., 724-772-8800. Services will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 8070 Rowan Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066. Everyone please meet at Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Hope Lutheran Church, 8070 Rowan Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066. At the time of his passing, Joe had his own private law practice, McCarthy and Associates. Joe was also a graduate of Bishop Boyle High School, Penn State University and Duquesne School of Law. Joe was an Adjunct Professor at CCAC Allegheny Campus and a former State Deputy Attorney General. Joe will be remembered for his dedication to family, friends and community as demonstrated through many years of coaching including: Cranberry Township Athletic Association Baseball, Pine Richland 8th grade Boys Basketball, Pine Richland Girls Softball, YMCA Flag Football, and Saint Rosalia Boys Basketball. Joe will also be remembered for his passion and love of basketball as a competitive player at Bishop Boyle and Penn State Greater Allegheny, as well as managing and playing in the men's Magee Basketball League in Greenfield.

I grew up in Greenfield, a year older than Joe. I later worked downtown and would often see him around at lunchtime. He always had a smile and made time to stop and chat. He was a very sweet soul who came from a wonderful family. Although missed by many, I'm sure he's enjoying his just rewards in heaven. Many prayers for Joe and those he loved.

I was on vacation in Florida when I heard the extremely sad news about Joe. What a great guy! I was Joe's JV basketball coach at Bishop Boyle HS in Homestead. He always showed determination with class on the court. The last time I saw Joe was at a Starbucks about 7-8 years ago in Cranberry where I ran into him. He told me about the sports he was coaching and involved with. He will be sorely missed

Joey was like a big brother to the Bradley boys growing up next door. I will always remember the fun times we had playing baseball, wiffle ball, basketball, football, release, and many other games as kids. Joey was a class act and an all around great guy. Summer basketball games at McGee followed by replenishing our fluids at Pickle's bring back such great memories of conversations with Joe. His wry smile and sense of humor were his trademark.
Joe was a deceptively good basketball player but a much better person & friend. He was smart, funny, positive, caring, and above all he was genuine. I was blessed to have known him and this world is a better place for the short time we had with him!
Joe...you will be greatly missed...but now you can enjoy your brother's games from the best seat in the house!
