MEIER Joseph Max 1934 2003 _ Joseph Meier, beloved husband of Doreen Meier of Calgary, passed away peacefully at his home on November 29, 2003 at the age of 68 years. He was born the eldest of ten on December 20, 1934 in St. Walburg, SK (Loon Lake area). Joe spent 46 years with Cana Construction, Burns and Dutton, beginning as a Carpenter Apprentice and graduating through to the ranks of Foreman, Project Superintendent, General Superintendent, Branch Manager and Vice President of Commercial Operations in both Saskatoon and Calgary. He left his trademark on many projects throughout Western Canada until his retirement in December 1999. Joe held various positions on boards including Carpenter Apprentice training in Saskatchewan and Alberta, Saskatoon and Calgary General Contractors Association and was Past President of the Saskatoon Construction Association. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus since 1964; he served terms as Charter Grand Knight, past Chapter President, Faithful Navigator and became an Honorary Life Member. He chaired many fundraising projects and was a willing volunteer especially at St. Patrick's Parishes in Calgary and Saskatoon. Joe loved nature and enjoyed an active lifestyle, participating in golf, curling, attending football games and travelling. He leaves behind a legacy of commitment to his faith and an unparalled work ethic. As a devoted husband, father and family man, he leaves to mourn his wife and friend of 47 years, Doreen; Daughter, Dianna (Larry) Hounjet of Saskatoon, SK and children, Lindsay and Ashley; Son, Wayne (Diane) of Regina, SK and children, Renae, Tania and Clayton and great-granddaughter, Tanessa; Son, Dean (Emily) of Milton, ON; Daughter, Joyce (Rex) Herring of Welland, ON and children, Jennifer and Victoria. Elizabeth, Mary, Techla, Delores, Theresa, Richard and Alphonse and their families will also mourn the passing of their dear brother. Joe was predeceased by his son, Gary; mother, Angela; father, Max; brother, Alois; and sister, Rita. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched and he will continue to be the wind beneath our wings. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and tributes at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev.
