The memorial was beautiful, and for every point made about how amazing Joe was, I immediately thought of an example from our lifelong friendship. I thought if I waited a bit, writing this would be easier, but it´s not. It´s true that sometimes Joe came off a little brusque, but in reality it was because he was passionate and was not afraid to stand up for what he cared about. He did so much for my son and me. I could never repay him. I am so grateful for his friendship. I told him I hoped he never got sick of hearing that we loved and appreciated him, because I would never stop saying it. We do love him, more than I have words for.

Joe's smile is as sweet as I remember it. Not sure where the time goes. One of his SLC Punk friends, we sure had fun in our youth. I am so very sorry for your family's loss. Loss for the entire planet, it appears. He left behind such an amazing legacy! You should all be very proud of him. I hope Joe was proud of himself. Too sweet a spirit to leave so soon! Sorry Joe, may you RIP. Melanie (Shepherd) Cleary

I took Joe to Haiti for his 50th birthday and it is something I will always cherish. Knowing him for 30 years we were very close. He was one of my people. I am heartbroken and send my condolences to his family. Joe was an amazing, thougtful, loving man.
