I asked Joe if he wanted to go have a picnic on my Grandmother's grave and watch her roll over as she was a bit prejudice. Picnic and penny whistle in hand he entertained her with his music and she smiled from above. What fun we had in all our adventures. I'll so miss you Joe

I loved to get Joe telling of his arrival in VT.and getting turned away at the border. He was going to Montreal to make a record but ended up in St.Albans instead. Nobby Reed helped him and an anonymous man gave him 50 dollars. He decided to stay for awhile!!! He also told great stories of Fairfield where most were very kind to him. He downplayed the downsides though I know they existed. My grandson was very distraught when he knew Mr.Joe was not doing well. He wanted to see him in the ICU. I said it was time for family. He said "but I have known him all my life." That's the thing we all felt part of Joe's family. He made us feel that way. Mary Jane McMahon

It was such a pleasure to work with you at CP Smith Citykids and Champ Camp all those years. You made the kids and seniors we visited at Cathedral Square very happy. The beach was a much happier place when we did Champ Camp and I could look over and see you sitting on your cooler under your umbrella playing the penny whistle for all the kids. You were always smiling and I will miss you my friend.
I will continue to have a luminary at Relay For Life of Chittenden County for you. Rest well Joe
