Memories of Joes service to others still shines bright. His dedication to family, friends and his community over the past 2 years without him reminds us to follow his example as we move forward.

I am so sorry to learn of Joe's passing. I think of him every time I see a flamingo. He was such a supportive principal and a joy to teach under. My daughter just adored him ... and remembered those ties! I will never forget that Joe and Lynn took the time to attend our wedding down in Mukwonago! My prayers are with Lynn and the girls ... I know it has been months and I am a little late but he was a great man of faith and is at peace.

Lynn and Girls,
My heart is very sad to hear of Joe's passing. Reading the wonderful tributes on this page is bringing tears to my eyes. Joe was my principal for a short time at Sheboygan Falls Middle School, when he hired me as a 5th grade teacher after many years of teaching in Special Education. It was a pleasure to come to school every day under his leadership. Joe was always warm and friendly, and very approachable. I enjoyed hearing about his travels around the world. He had the best laugh! The students loved and respected him, and he was a big hit with the many ties he wore. Joe was a man of great faith, and this faith has led him now to peace in his final destination. Please know my heart and prayers are with you during this time.

Hilarie and family,

I just heard about Joe passing away and wanted to send my deepest condolences to all of you. I only had a brief opportunity to get to know him with Hilarie's assistance but it didn't take long to feel the kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion he displayed. He obviously passed along those traits to Hilarie which she shared with staff and students alike at Friendship Learning Center. Based on the sincere and appreciative comments shared on this site, Joe's memory will live on in the year's to come.

Most Sincerely,

Melanie

Lynn and family - I remember Joe living at our house on Summit while at UWM. What a sensitive, funny and kind soul. He made a deep impression on this young boy as one of the good guys I might emulate.

I bumped into him years later at a grocery while we vacationed on the lake. It was a delight to again make the connection, now as a man, with that same great smile and welcoming persona.

My heart is with you in your grief.

Joe was a wonderful, kind and loving man. One always felt comfortable talking to Joe about and difficulties you might be having. He was a great listener. In all my years of teaching he was the best Principal I ever worked with. Everyday he was there to guide and support. I feel so sad inside at the passing of this wonderful man who made such an impact on my life.

As a driver, for then Sheboygan Transit, I have fond memories of Mr. Mukavitz on the bus. He was always kind and polite! Also saw him on occasion at St. Peter Claver Church for Mass. He shall be at peace with the Lord!

Fond memories of softball games with the students, playing tennis and parties in the publishing house basement at JFK Prep. Our years together at JFK Prep were amazing and life changing, very grateful for the experience.

I wish express my condolences to Lynn and Joe's girls and extended family. Joe was a kind and effective principal. He was truly appreciated by the parents, children and staff of Sheboygan Falls Elementary. Flamingos....what can I say about flamingos? My favorite was the year we decorated his desk and home with his "favorite ?" pink bird and none of us got in trouble. How great was that?

My thoughts and prayers are with Lynn and family in this time of loss and sorrow. Joe was one of the kindest, gentlest men I've had the pleasure of knowing. From Mount St. Paul College to Camp St. Charles and beyond, it was always a joy to spend time with Joe. He'll be missed. May he now be in peace in the palm of God's loving hands. ~ Mike Hoffman SDS

Our sympathy goes out to Lynn and the girls. Joe was an influential and dynamic person, who had a significant affect on many of his students...and the people who knew him. We are grateful for his kindness to our sons, while they were students at St Peter Claver. I enjoyed being his dentist....and the many conversations we had.
