Joe was a childhood friend who I loved. He was reportedly sited stealing beer at my brothers graduation party. So many memories. We watched the landing on the moon and Woodstock at Linda´s. He was in on our shore houses with too many stories to share. I last saw him in LA on St Patrick Day in 2010. He was a special kind friend who I will cherish forever. Rest easy my friend. I love you. Sue Doc.

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Joseph ("the Murph") and I became friends while attending St. Mary's grammar school where we served as Altar Boy partners from 4th grade through 8th grade. I will always remember "hanging out" on 9th Street during high school and on the "Jersey shore".

My condolences to all of Joe´s children, sisters, and his entire family.
I have known Joe since our college days. Through the years, life took us on separate paths but we always kept in touch. Whenever we managed to get together on the same coast, we would spend countless hours enjoying each others company and planning adventures. Quite often Joe would come to my house for a day and wind up staying a few days, cutting down a few trees and engaging in enjoyable conversation with Susan and me. I have fond memories of driving to Watkins Glen with Joe to race cars, camp out, and drink beer. Most recently, we exchanged our views and enthusiasm for Formula 1 racing. Oh yes, our sailing days were also packed with adventure and surprises...Running aground, no wind, too much wind etc...
Lastly. I was going to meet Joe, aka "Murphy" at a pub in NY on St. Patricks day. The pub was packed and the bouncer would not let me in. However, he did let me yell for him through the door. "Murphy" I yelled. Well, 20 Murphys came to the door! He was one of them.
I will miss Joe´s wit and humor and the conversations we had together. He was my oldest and closest friend.
Sadly, RIP Joe.
