JOSEPH ONG Obituary
Dr. Ong was born in Nashua, NH, on Sept. 21, 1970, the son of George and Rodelia Ong. Raised in Moon Township, PA, he was a graduate of Moon Area High School, where he excelled both academically and as a nationally ranked tennis player. After completing his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at MIT, Dr. Ong received his M.A. in Biomedical Engineer-ing at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1998. He earned his medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine in 1999. He completed his internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Ong worked most of his career as a neurosurgeon at Sentara Neurosurgery Specialists in Virginia Beach, VA. He briefly resided in Levittown, PA, before recently relocating to Denver to assume a position as a Senior Medical Associate at Doctor to Doctor Sales Solutions.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Ong is survived by his wife, Sheila Bautista Ong; his children, Joseph Jr. and Virgil James; brother, Patrick Ong; sister, Maria Ong; and nephew, Luke Ong-Brown.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. on Monday, Feb. 17th, at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Levit-town, PA. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. Friends may call 6 to 8 P.M. on Sun. evening and 8:15 to 9:15 A.M. on Mon. morning at the WADE FUNERAL HOME, 1002 Radcliffe Street in Bristol.
A Memorial Mass in Moon Township, PA, is being planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "The Joseph Ong Memorial Fund for Joseph Jr. and Virgil James Ong" in person at any Wells Fargo location or by sending a check to this address: Wells Fargo, Bank By Mail, 9350 East Arapahoe Road, Greenwood Village, Colorado 80112.

15 years ago in 2008 this brilliant doctor made a surgery on my neck at Sentara Hospital Virginia Beach. I was an international student who came to the USA on exchange program and had a car accident. I had 7 surgeries. The most important was on my neck. I am grateful for Dr Ong for saving my life. I never forgot my doctor. Even if I was under anesthesia most of the time, I clearly remember the faces of Dr Ong and his assistant Dr Joshua. They saved my life. My deepest gratitude. Thanks to you, I have a family, 4 children. I was so sad to find this information on the internet. I was looking for this doctor to say "thank you, I am still alive". But when I found out you were not with us anymore, my tears came down. I want to thank the parents of Dr Ong for such a brilliant doctor. I will never forget Dr Ong, who saved my life.

We miss you so much. The holidays are no longer the same without you around. I always remember the good times. I wish you were still around, so we could talk neuroscience. I am back at NIH and I'm working in a neuroscience lab, I'm learning so much and doing some pretty cool procedures. Before here, I was actually at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. I do think of you often, I really miss you brother-in-law. I love you and I miss you. May you continue to Rest in Peace.

A great friend who taught me how to move like Michael Jackson, when we were friends back in the 80's. When I was an awkward late bloomer of a college student, he taught me to have confidence in myself and how to ask out girls. At Christmas time, I traveled from Philly to Pittsburgh with he and his fiancee. And he even let me drive his car for the last hour. Perhaps he was bothered that I bumped the curb while trying to parallel park, but he never let on. He never lost his temper over anything. Because of work obligations, I was extremely late to his wedding. But he did not bear me any ill-will. He had a cameo appearance in the movie "Wonder Boys", but I am too afraid to watch it, because of the misfortune that befell him. And it will be too difficult for me to see him onscreen. When George and Odette moved to Milford NH they became our very best friends because of our Filipino connection my wife Teresita McKeown also being Filipino.We attended
their Wedding in Peterborough NH.When Joey came along
I had the honor at Joey's Baptism to be Joey's Godfather.
When George and Odette moved to Pa. We watched Joey
advance through life with his determinatipn and his education to become a Doctor.

I was so sorry to hear about Joe. I last saw him at our class reunion a few years ago and have thought of him many times since. His smile and GENUINE interest in me and my family have stayed with me.
