Joseph Ozanich Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Jul. 19, 2016.
Joseph John Ozanich December 27, 1942 - July 8, 2016 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joseph John Ozanich at Surrey Memorial Hospital at the age of 73. Joe is survived by his 2 daughters, Jessica Belair (Denis) of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Jodie Nanton (Brian) of Surrey, BC, as well as his long time friend Ruby Ann Landry of Delta, BC, and his many neighbours and friends. Joe was an only child born and raised in Vancouver and was a long time employee of the City of Vancouver. Joe was a survivor. After receiving a heart transplant, his determination and dedication to living a healthy and happy life allowed him to spend another 25 years enjoying the things he loved. He was proud to attend and give away both of his daughters at their weddings and was very much looking forward to the arrival of his first grandson. Joe was an avid traveller. He enjoyed going on cruises around the world with Ann and trips to Napa Valley and Peachland. A few other favourite activities included spending time with friends and family, competing in shuffleboard tournaments, and relaxing with a good glass of wine. At Joe's request there will be no service held. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the BC Heart Transplant Society.

I knew Joe for about twenty years, meeting him through my wife's work mate Ann. I'll miss the many great dinners and the less than great golf. He always called me Dad. Enjoy the nineteenth, Son.

Great friend...I was lucky to have met Joe. As a transplant recipient myself, we had lots to talk about.
