Met Joe in ft Sill Oklahoma while in the national guard, my best friend who went with me to basic training and I quickly became friends with him. Sometime around 1971 he played in the pro tournament in New Orleans. He stayed at my friends apartment and skipped the pro am to go play a round of golf with us instead, I have to say we did a little partying a few nights too...thanks for the memories Joe RIP

Joe and I were buddies back when he played the Tour and I was writing book about it, and also writing for Golf and Golf Digest. One of the greatest guys out there. I recently moved back to Phoenix area and just found out he had passed and I'm saddened that I didn't get to talk to him. Hoping to chat with someone in his family. R.I.P. Joe. Keep it always in the short grass.

When I was working at CBRE in the 80's, my daughters were still at home. When I would come home, they would ask me, "what did Porter say today"! Often I had some story to tell them and we would all laugh. He entertained us at CBRE with stories I have never forgotten - when Josh was born, when he was in the playoff at the US Open Championship, especially when he made a deal!! We all loved Joe - he always made us laugh!! We miss him and I think of him often. Those were good days! Charlotte

Recently we were saddened to hear of Joe's passing as we were out of town this summer. He was one of a kind and everyone who met him, never forgot him! I was employed at CBRE as an industrial saleswoman and often competed and cooperated with Joe and Pat Feeney! It was a joy to hear the banter of Joe Porter! I really loved Joe as a brother, friend and co-worker. He loved his wife and kids - he was so proud of you!!We are sorry we weren't there to offer our condolences but we know Joe may be teaching Jesus how to play golf. He will be so missed but never forgotten. Our love to you Beth and the family. Charlotte and John Christian

Joey was fried of since since 1968. He would bunk with us in Chicago when he played golf every year at The Wester Open. He was at our house when he was two ahead on the 18th hole winning his first PGA event. Unfortunately he lost that year, but, only comment was I will win next week. He left the Tour in 1976. Joined CB Richard Ellis and was number 1 in Industrial real estate brokerage at CB for many successive years. He was very smart, a heart salesman and the fastest at doing numbers in his head. His favorite Retaurant for breakfast was the Original Pandcaje Hose on Camelback Road. We had numerous breakfasts there over perhaps 40 years. His favorite place for lunch was Sal's where he will be remebererd for a long time. Joe may Go Bless you and we will see you again "when the roll is called up yonder."

I met Joe only once in the Arizona National Guard. We had two weeks of summer camp deployment in 1970 at an Army base in southern Arizona. I remember he came into our barracks lugging a huge golf club bag and a small duffel bag.

He was so out going and full of life. He called everyone Lukey..... and it was apparent he was somebody special. While the rest of us were doing our maneuvers in the hot desert, Joe had a lineup of Army Officers wanting to play golf with him at the base golf course. Needless to say, we never saw Joe out in the field during those two weeks :).

My thoughts are with his family. Joe led a full life and I feel blessed to have known him, even if only for a short time.

Beth & family

I have known JP since we got sent home from kindergarden for wrestling in the mud at Grand Ave. school in 1950. In my life I have known three of the Joe Porters. My thoughts are with JP and his family.

What a great man! I was fortunate enough to meet him 28 years ago and were friends ever since. We shared many common interests, with the most notable being the "2 biggest" Larry Bird fans there ever was!
I have never met a better person and probably never will.
RIP Joe, they will never make another one like you!!!
My sincere condolences to entire Porter family.

Rest In Peace, Joe Porter.
Met Joe through ACC but my late husband met him in business, buying our first real estate property in Tempe for our business in 1983.
Years later, Who would have known our kids would become golfing buddies at ACC! Joe spent countless hours through the years with Josh and my boys, riding along while they played golf; but not just riding; coaching, laughing and enjoying the round. Much character building in the game and in life happened on the golf course. Joe was always sharing life experiences that became lessons to these young people.

Then 5 years ago, Joe was so helpful to my family when we lost my husband. His expertise in the RE world, was invaluable and he shared with me with no expectation.

Great memories, Joe!!!! You will be missed!

So sad. JOEY lived just down the street from my family and a few houses from Bill Wamsley. We were best friends in our junior and senior years at Arcadia and JOEY and Bill were in my wedding in '68. I caddies for JOEY a few times and over the years have told many golfing friends that he could toss a club as far as he could hit the ball with his huge hands. Our sympathy to Beth and the Porterfamily. Chuck

Joe, you were always my "favorite" working at CBRE -- my "chocoholic buddy". You always had a kind word, funny story and lots of hugs. Will miss you - the world has lost a great man but I know you will be keeping everyone in stitches in Heaven.

Joey was one of my first friends when my dad brought us to AZ in '57. I remember him as a good baseball player back then. His enthusiasm for his play would always raise his volume. We were in the first graduating class at Kaibab. He went to Arcadia. I went to Scottsdale. Saw him often at ASU. I ran into him only a couple times in later years. Funny just two days ago I was showing homes in Arcadia and pointed out where my friend Joey's house was on Lafayette. Sounds like he had his priorities in the right place with his family.
God bless his family. May they have the peace that only God can give.

The 2 years that I worked with and sat next to you were by far the most educational years of my career. Thank you for being one of the best teachers and story tellers I have ever met. I am so mad that I didn't get to talk to you one last time and have one more sandwich at Sacks.

My prayers to the Porter family in this tough time. He was one of the smartest guys in the commercial real estate business that i have ever known. I've always looked up to him in that regard. Not to mention, the endless conversations we had about the AZ Cardinals ! He will be truly missed and this business will not be the same without him.
