Joseph D. Priolo

AGE: 80 • Tinton Falls

Joe Priolo, 80, died December 5, 2017, with his family, Charlene and Joseph, by his side.

Joe lived his entire life at the Jersey shore, and with the exception of his proud service in the United States Navy and the years spent with his father in California, Joe never wanted to live anywhere else.

Joe was known as the Shore's "Bartender Extraordinaire", and took great pride in his commitment to his craft, his work, and winning the respect of his customers, friends, and co-workers. Other than a partnership in a family business when first married, Joe spent his career working as bar manager in several of the Shore's best restaurants.

Joe was known for his kindness, generosity, and his unconditional love and acceptance of his family and friends. Joe was a family man, and his greatest love and pride was his son, Joseph Charles. Joe was a family man, and despite divorce, remained ever loving, accepting, supportive, and encouraging. He was especially proud of his family's educational, intellectual, and professional pursuits.

Joe was pre-deceased by his infant son, Carlo Sebastian; his mother, Anna Villapiano Addeo; his father, Sebastian Carlo, "Charlie" Priolo; his sister, Ida Priolo; his brother and best friend, Frank Addeo, and his brother Sam Addeo.

Joe is survived by his former wife and life-long love, Charlene S Priolo (nee Sangiuolo); his son, Joseph Charles Priolo; his brother, Nick Addeo and Elaine (Long Branch); sisters and brothers-in-laws, Suzanne and Jim Ratshin (Seaside Park); Bunny Kaufman and Joe Tomlinson (VA); Rachele and Phil Geusmaria (FL); Pat Sangiuolo (NY); Teddy and Roseann Patterson (Keansburg); and Nancy Thompson (FL); and many loving multi-generational nieces and nephews.

Visitation Sunday December 11th 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Graveside service Monday December 12th 11:00 am at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Neptune. Joey was my first cousin and I was shocked and saddened when I learned of his passing. My wife and I were away and found out last evening, New Years Eve of his passing. I have fond memories when we were young when Joey lived on Bangs Ave with his mom, sister Ida, brothers Nicky and Frankie, and grandmother, and I lived in Sewell Ave . I was always there. Joey was a great cousin and role model. I remember when he enlisted in the US Navy. We were all so proud of him. God rest his soul. Love, cousin Bobby Villapiano

I was so saddened to just learn of the passing of my cousin, Joey Priolo, and so sorry I couldn't be a part of his funeral and final farewell. I know first hand how he was enormously respected by his employers and customers at some of the upscale restaurants in which Joey tended bar. He was indeed a professional, a perfectionist in his craft, and a great listener. I recall his visits to me on Sunset Avenue with his young son Joseph and the pride, joy and love he showed for the young boy. Sending my deepest condolences to Joey's family, Charlene and son Joseph. Rest in peace, Joey. We will all meet again. Love, Madeline

The last time I saw Uncle Joe he was telling me, in a bit of a wistful voice, how things change. Neither of us were big huggers. I insisted on hugging him twice that day. I am very glad that I did.

Spending time with him & Frankie was at turns hilarious & touching. They were brothers of the heart.
