Not sure what to say?

I just found out today about Joe's death. I had been his dental hygienist at Dr. Murphy's office for 10 years. I was so sad to hear, though I know Joe stuggled and conquered so many health issues. We always had a lot to talk about. My son Mark had gone to Gilman and Joe always asked me how he was. He was such a positive person and I know he will be missed. Fondly, Sandy Sheffler RDH (dental hygienist and friend)

I am saddened to hear about Joe's passing. We began our friendship teaching at Severn School and continued when he moved to Loyola and I used his expertise. Joe always impressed me with how smart he was, entertained me with his stories, and made me laugh with his jokes. My thoughts to Mattie and his family.

I am saddened to hear that Joe has died, but is with the Lord. We were friends at JHU's MLA program, and I would give him a ride home after our class on "Evil in Literature". He had a great sense of humor, and we shared funny stories happening around Loyola and the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The stories have to get him through the Golden Gates. My best wishes to his family.

As a recent graduate student, I am saddened to hear of Dr. Procaccini's passing. His family, friends and colleagues are in my thoughts and prayers. He has played a part in my life, along with many other recent graduates.

I was one of Dr. Procaccini's students in the Loyola Catholic Cohort. In his class I learned more from his stories than from the books and more about myself than about education. That was clearly his plan and has made me a better educational leader. I am sure he is telling God some great jokes.

I am so sorry TO LEARN OF JOE'S DEATH. I KNOW HOW SICK HE HAS BEEN BUT LIKE IN THE PAST I WAS SURE HE WOULD COME BACK. I HAVE PRAYED FOR HIM FOR A LONG TIME AND HOPE NOW THAT HE IS AT REST WITH NO MEDICAL EQUIPMENT HE WILL BE WITH GOD AND NOW REMEMBER TO THINK OF ALL WHO LOVED HIM AND WILL MISS HIM A GREAT DEAL. I CANNOT IMAGINE THE NUMBER OF LIVES HE TOUCHED FROM HIS FIRST BOOK AND TELEVISION APPEARANCE TO HIS LAST DAYS.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE JOE

Dr. Procaccini was one of my late husband, Dr. William R. Macera, former Mayor of Johnston, Rhode Island best friends throughout his entire life from the time they were young children and throughout all their adult years. They attended colleges together and both were dedicated college professors always endeavoring to help and inspire their students to lead productive and helpful lives for their families and those they serve. My sons Philip and Andrew and I greatly admired Dr.Proccaccini and extend our heartfelt sympathies to his entire family. He was truly a great man highly dedicated to helping and inspiring others.Maureen B. Macera,Ph.D.

It is with sadness I read of Joe's death. Our friendship goes all the way back to the school days at OLP Seminary in the 50's. He was extraordinary then and, obviously, throughout his live. God, rest this mighty soul! I will offer Holy Mass today in thanksgiving for Joe's life and work and for all of you who mourn his passing. God bless each of you in every way. Fr. Joe Protano.
