I worked alongside Joe at the stadium and the Dome. It's very polite and nice gentlemen we enjoy talking about the Continentals, Colts and his family. I missed him after he left the stadium. Very very nice gentlemen very nice

Joe was a wonderful, life long friend going way back to our days at Butler University. Over the years we shared our joy of family, Butler basketball success and life. I will always remember Joe as a very special person in my life. I send my very deep condolence to Janet and the Purichia family.

I was one of his Biology students at Brownsburg, and he really was one of the good ones. I have great memories of my time with him at BHS. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Brenda Crohn Billingsley. Class of 76.

I was an English teacher when Joe was counseling juniors and seniors at WHS. He had a smile and a personality that naturally drew people to him. He was always a gentleman who did what he could to help others.
I sincerely hope there's a golf course in heaven. Joe and his friend Dick McClure can play every day, share memories and swop stories.
Joe will be missed.

Joe was such a true gentleman. I met him my freshman year in high school and he was my driver's ed teacher and later became a very good friend and neighbor as well as his family. We met Joe and Janet when we began attending Roberts Park United Methodist Church in 2008. They were a delightful and charming couple, and it was so sad to see Joe`s health slowly decline. Please accept our condolences.

Although time, distance, and illness may have separated us our love of Civil War venues, storytelling, and football kept us closer than many might realize. Joe was a great influence to me as a football coach and taught me many things. His son Jeff coached FB with us at Edgewood HS also. I had the good fortune to spend a year with Joe at WHS. My sympathies to the family. RIP Joe.

I am very sorry to hear this sad news! I had the good fortune to be a coach under Joe during his time at Lincoln. He brought a new coaching approach and a lot of enthusiasm. I learned a lot of offensive strategies and coaching techniques from him. We were not only coaching friends, but were also good friends outside of coaching. Poker parties and coaching outings were fun and always welcome. Prayers go out to his family!

I am saddened by the passing of this good man. He taught me so much about football. More importantly, 'his off the field' discussions were even better.
