Joseph Raneses Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 10, 2025.
Joseph Delima Raneses, of Salinas, CA was called to be home with God on Saturday morning April 26, 2025 at the age of 80.

He was born December 12, 1944 in Legaspi, Albay, Philippines, and was the youngest of 9 siblings, which included 6 brothers and 2 sisters. He married the love of his life in 1965, and fathered 4 sons and a daughter. Joseph graduated at Feati University in Manila, Philippines as a Civil Engineer and worked hard most of his adult years to provide his family and be able to live a comfortable life. For the past 35 years, Salinas was his cherished home, where he continued his duties at City of Salinas and became an active member of the Madonna del Sasso Catholic Church. His hard work will forever be remembered by the many buildings and houses he designed, of which will always stand based upon his dedication to perfection, and vast knowledge of intricate design and nurturing his spiritual life and supporting ministries in the Philippines. Joseph was a dedicated family man, and will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness, and his dedication to helping out his family as much as circumstances would allow.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Antoinette of 46 years and 6 of his siblings Aurora, Iluminada, Jesus, Antonio, Juanito, and Lorenzo Jr. He is survived by his children (Jorge, Lorenzo, Joshua, Janet and Joseph), two siblings (Ben and Jaime), as well as many grandchildren and great-grand children.

We are comforted knowing that he and his wife are now at peace for eternity in the loving arms of our Lord in heaven.

Joseph will be cremated and then a mass service will take place at Madonna Del Saso on June 27, 2025, 10am. Final resting place will be in the Philippines.

Uncle Pepe,
I have always enjoyed our private messages we sent one another just to check in and give an update about our health and lives. You never made it to the farm in Alabama like we discussed. I know you very much wanted to be one with the land again, growing your favorite fruits and vegetables.

Time got away from us and we both lost touch as both our health declined. I have missed out. I am sorry. Thank you for coming to visit me with Auntie Nene when I lived in Fernley, Nevada. Thank you for encouraging my move and purchase of the farm.

I will be forever grateful for your kindness when Papa died. Thank you for always remembering to message me just to say "hi". I will never forget how insulted you were when the City of Salinas required you retake basic Algebra again. But you showed them! Not only did you take the course, you led the students along side of you to perceiver and do their best!

You were always an encourager! I will forever love you and remember you for the many ways of kindness you showed me when I became Father-less. I respected you then. I respect you now Uncle!

I love you!
Rhodora

Thank you Pa. Sorry I didn't do what I promised Ma to take care of you. But what is done is done. You gave everything you had for us. Rest in peace.
