This is quite a shock. I went to Cumberland Valley HS with Joe. I remember he successfully lobbied for academic letters. And in 1987 we were sharing a table at the Dauphin County law library on the day our bar results came out. He was a good guy. Jennifer, I´m so sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences Jennifer. Joe´s intelligence, incisive wit, and incredible ability to think on his feet was only overshadowed by his extraordinary kindness. He was a great resource to me when I was with the AOA and it saddens me to think he is not a phone call away. May fond memories of your time together soften your sorrow.

I was so saddened to hear of Joe's passing. I've only known Joe since he joined the POA, but I feel like I've known him forever and I always thought of him with great respect and so enjoyed our talks. What an incredible friend and colleague. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Knowledgeable, kind, sharing, and empathetic with a wit second to none. Yet, he was powerfully humble. The community has lost one of the great ones. He will be sorely missed by those whose lives he touched.
With deepest sympathies and prayers.

Joe was a brilliant medical malpractice defense trial attorney, and a generous mentor to me early in my legal career. The phrase "he taught me everything I know" isn´t far from the truth. Joe became a good friend and law partner over the course of the decade we worked together. I always looked forward to our "doorway conversations" at the office. Joe truly cared about his coworkers and their families and was generous with his time and talents to everyone with whom he crossed paths. He was also very generous when it came to sharing the unrivaled coffee cake that Jennifer would bake for him whenever he had a jury trial! He was a great husband to Jen and they were often two peas in a pod in many aspects of their life together. Joe is a man who will be missed by many but Heaven is now even better because he is there. It makes me smile to know that Joe is reunited with his father who he loved so much and missed dearly after his passing. My love and condolences go out to Jennifer and all of Joe´s family.

Saddened to hear of Joe's passing - recently reconnected with him in Harrisburg while making 'the rounds' - we talked about days gone by and shared many laughs about his (mis)adventures with lifelong buddy S.D. (you know who you are!!!)
Prayers to Joe's family and know that his impact and advocacy will be felt for years to come-

I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. The board members of the Maine Optometric Association and I are deeply saddened. Joe was the first to reach out and welcome me as a new Executive Director and offer his card and made sure I knew I could call him any time. Supportive, smart and witty, just a great man!

I knew Joe through the Gburg Seminary. Such a delightful person. I'm sorry I didn't know about his photography interests, since that would have given us another thing to talk about. I'm grateful for his service to the seminary, and I am so sorry to hear about his death. My prayers, God's peace. Mark

Gone too soon. Joe and I spoke just a couple of weeks ago. I got off the phone thinking what a pleasant man. After answering my optometry question Joe and I talked about family, travel and photography. That twenty minutes was the highlight of my day. He will be missed. I pray that he is smiling in heaven now. Rest In Peace Joe.
My condolences to his family.
