A funeral service for Joseph V. Ruby, 84 of Granville, OH will be 12 p.m. noon, Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Deacon John Barbour officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville.
Joe passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, November 6, 2022 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born August 24, 1938 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH to the late Vito J. and Esther L. (Welch) Ruby. He was a graduate of Kent State University where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He worked as an architect and retired from A.E.P.
In retirement, he enjoyed cheering on his grandkids at various sports events; restoring his MG, and watching Buckeye football and basketball. He also loved working around the house on all sorts of projects, putting his special touches on everything.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry (Sucher) Ruby; daughters, Joelle Molino of Liberty, MO, Nicole (Tim) Blasczyk of Newark; sisters, Darlene Ruby of Cuyahoga Falls and Marie (Patrick) Sauers of Akron; grandchildren, Maria, Olivia, Julia and Josh; step-grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah, Wyatt, Ryan and Ian; step-great-grandchildren, Grayson and Charlotte.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Ruby.
Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the funeral service, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark, OH 43055.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Licking Memorial Health Foundation; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
