Joe was the best. Ron and I wish to express our condolences. We met him kayaking on the river and had the pleasure of calling him and Carole our dear friends. Susan and Ron Parr.

Thanks, Diane, for sharing. Aunt Hazel and Uncle Joe were 2 of the coolest people ever. I've always remembered from my much younger days, and when going with you to Maryland after I graduated, how sweet, fun, & funny Uncle Joe was. And I've always just loved Aunt Hazel to the moon and back. I always told others that she was my favorite beautiful Aunt. You Saunder kids were blessed with 2 parents that had such charisma, that others just loved. I will always cherish the time that I knew them both. If you would, please share this with your brothers. Just want you both to know how I will always feel about Uncle Joe and Aunt Hazel. And I'm soooo sorry for the void in your hearts. I Love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was heartbroken to hear about your Dad! He was truly a wonderful person and loved by everyone I knew that ever met him! I remember well even as a young kid how special Uncle Joe made me feel when I was around him. A trait I'm sure he shared with everyone and probably one of the reasons he was so loved and adored. He was beautiful inside and out! He was the Best! I can remember as if it were yesterday how special and exciting it was when Uncle Joe and Aunt Hazel and all you kids would come to South Carolina to visit!

My heart breaks for this tremendous loss in your lives. I pray for your peace and comfort! I will be praying for each of you. Love you all!

You never know when the last photo you take of someone will be. Mine was of him with the love of his life, great granddaughters, and favorite photobomber, Nov. 2024. Pop pop was an incredible man and my idol. His personality, will, wit, and humor were top tier. He did so many admirable and funny things, we could easily share many stories about him! Oh how he will be missed. We will love and think of you forever Pop pop. You were the greatest.
