To all of Joe’s Friends,
I wish to thank all of you who were a part of his life in the Lowell area. He always talked about working with great people, and how you were all friends. Joe always could bring out the best in anyone. In the past 20 years he lived in my life I know that he never forget any of you. I had the newspaper framed that you made for Joe when he left the paper. It still hangs in our bedroom so that every morning he would walk by and it still put a smile on his face. For those who had the chance to stop by and see Joe at Skehan Home Center or our house he was always proud when you came to visit. As Joe touched so many lives in Lowell area, he touched so many lives up in the North Country as he called it. I have been very fortunate to have met Joe when I did. The memories are too many and wonderful to count. As I sit here writing this note, the memories are flashing by and putting the smile on my face that Joe always loved. I will remember his wonderful smile and his warm arms around me. I know he will always be at my side to help me through my life.
I wish to thank all of you for your warm thoughts and caring cards they really do help.

To Joe's family, I wish to send my sincerest sympathy on your loss. Joe was a great influence on my life. I worked for Joe for six years at the Lowell Sun. He was more than a boss. He was a friend and mentor. It was Joe's faith in me that helped me move beyond the Lowell Sun. He was always pushing for me to go back to school and to live up to my potential. I attribute much of my success in life to him and the things he taught me.

Joe really was something...a cut above the rest. He had such a way with people. He could be your friend, your brother and sometimes a father figure. He certainly had the respect and admiration of so many (whether he realized it or not). I can just picture him sitting at the kitchen table chatting with the daycare kids, and enjoying every minute of it. We all have great memories of Joe from our days at The Sun and on the softball field. He'll be missed.

I first met Joe almost 30 years ago. He was my boss, but quickly became my friend who helped me through some tough times. Under that gruff exterior was a kind, gentle and generous man. I still remember and will never forget all the good times we shared at bowling, "The Parkway", our apartments across the street from each other on Nesmith, and all of us trekking up to Ctr. Ossipee to stay with him at the Mt. Whittier because we missed him. My sincere sympathy to Kellie and kids. Joe, may you rest in peace alongside Jeff. You will be missed.

Joe was a great guy.He hired me in '79 and I worked for him (driving) until '82.The hours were great for me while I attended U.Lowell. I enjoyed working for him and am glad I got to know him. Remember the green cigars ? He was one in a million. May he rest in peace.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many who worked for Joe at the Lowell Sun are with you at this time of sorrow. Joe was a wonderful supervisor and friend. He had an uncanny ability to manage a large number, and at times an unruly group, of young men that worked as truck drivers for the Lowell Sun.

What can you say that would describe how great a guy Joe was. He was like a big brother to me. He was my boss, my friend and my mentor. I'll miss golfing with my buddy this summer. i looked foward to getting together with you every year. you, me and tardy...it was just like the old days, lots of laughs and genuine love for each others company.Your the greatest Joe, i'll love you always.
Kellie, i'm so sorry for your loss...i hope you and the kids get thru this tough time. He loved you guys so much, thats what he would talk about on the golf course. All about the kids and what activities they were involved in and how they were doing in school. And also how you and he had such a great relationship and enjoyed eachothers company. Try to be strong,as Joe would be. I'll say a prayer for all of you.
Hit it long and straight my good friend.
Love,Terry

To Joe's Family, Joe was a great guy who had a tremeandous impact on a great deal of young men working at the Lowell Sun in the late 70's and early 80's. At work, firm but fair.Outside of work, especially with softball competative and fun.He treated the drivers, inserters and the Umass/Lowell workers with equal respect. Some will remember him also as quite the painter/handyman.It's ironic that as the Sun is publishing stories now of the blizzard of 78 that it was Joe who pushed the papers to the street. It was the drivers who repaid Joe the respect he had shown them along the way.Just a great guy.Best regards to the family.
