Joseph Soos Sr.

Myrtle Beach, SC - Soos, Joseph J. Sr. age 70, a longtime resident of the Waverly, NY community, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in Myrtle Beach, SC. Joe was born on Dec. 16, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA; son of the late, Andrew J. & Catherine Mooney Soos. After high school, he served his country in the US Army. In early years, Joe was employed by the US Postal Service, He is better known in our area having served the community as a paramedic with Erway Ambulance Service. Joe also was employed by Arnot-Ogden Medical Center in the Cath Lab at the Heart Institute. An outdoorsman, Joe enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid sports fan with a love for the Philadelphia Eagles. Most of all, he cherished special times with family and many friends. Surviving are his loving children, Joseph Soos, Jr., Wellsburg, NY; Jami Soos Perry & (Pierre Mammouth Laronze), Big Flats, NY; a grandson, Jared Soos; brother, Andrew (Susan) Soos; nieces and nephew; A loving friend, companion and soulmate, Kathy Henry, Myrtle Beach, SC; along with her son, Brandon (Trisha) Meck, and their children, Lily and Charlie; especially close friends, Brian & David Steele and Crissy Wylie. A local memorial service will be announced at a later date.

To the Soos family, I am shocked reading this. When I retired from the Arnot I missed him calling for his cold holds in the mornings. He was so pleasant to talk to. He will be missed. My heart goes out to his family. Bless you Joe!

Your legacy on this Earth when you leave is how many hearts you touched. You were a father to us, when you didn't have to be. You helped make me the person I am today and I'm forever grateful for that. I will always cherish the time we had and I will never forget all that you did for me. I will always remember our summer trips to the beach, our secret handshakes, and the Saturday nights we spent watching cops. To Kathy and the rest of the family, our hearts go out to you.
