SVEHLA-Joseph Francis, age 76 years, Omaha; beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle. U.S. Marine, wounded in the Korean War; awarded Purple Heart. Retired from Union Pacific Railroad. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Mary; brother, Richard and his wife Elinor (Cecil); sisters, Mary Jane Hagerty and Loretta Obermeyer; son, Scott Roy and his wife Donna; nephew, Michael Obermeyer. Survived by wife, Bessie Jane; sons: Jeff, Lance (Prof.), and Steven; daughter, Lisa Saarela and her husband James; grandchildren: Kenneth, Thomas, Melissa, S. Alexander, Krista Lynne, both San Antonio, TX, Heather Saarela, niece, Theresa (RSM) of Kansas City, MO; nephew, Richard and his wife Diane; brother-in-law, James Hagerty, both of Omaha; many other nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Vigil Service Thursday, 7:00 p.m., St. James Catholic Church, 9025 Larimore Ave. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, 10:00 a.m., St. James Catholic Church. Entombment, Resurrection Mausoleum with full military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503. Memorials to St. James Catholic Church or Madonna School. The family will receive friends Thursday, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church. HEAFEY-HEAFEY-HOFFMANN

I´ll always remember Uncle Joe, my mother´s youngest brother. He lived with us after the war for a short time. He was a good man, and a war hero. My condolences to his children.
