Joseph Tocci Obituary
Joseph Matthew Tocci, 23, of Wilmington passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2023.
Joey was born on January 2, 2000 to Danielle Tocci in Brighton, Massachusetts. After Joey graduated from E.A. Laney High School he went on to Asheville, NC before coming back to settle down in Wilmington.
Joey is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Lawrence Tocci. He is survived by his mother Danielle Tocci, his brothers Adam Abrams and Justin Tocci, his grandmother Annemarie Clark, his Aunt Rhonda, Uncle Jon and cousins Olivia and Mia. Along with countless aunts, uncles and cousins in Massachusetts. As well as many friends who are family.
He was a gentle soul who was fiercely protective of those he loved. His K38 family was so important to him and he loved his job. He never failed to make you laugh. He is resting easy with his grandpa now.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington.

Joey, you were the first friend that I made in high school, and quickly you became my best friend. I will never forget all of the countless hours we spent hanging out together, working together, going to school together. Those years we spent growing up will be cherished forever, and I'd give anything to relive them. You were such a great friend to me, and you were always there if I ever needed it. I appreciate you endlessly, and I'll see you again some day.

We are so very sorry for your loss. I remember him from my Laney and our boys hung out throughout the years. He always had that contagious smile that would light up the room and was so polite. My heart hurts for you and your family and please know we are all praying for your family.

I didn't know Joey but from the photographs I can see that he was clever, artistic, funny, a gifted young man with a brightness for life. I do know the lasting influence and indelible mark his mother, as a teacher, left on my son Aidan in just one short semester at Hoggard High School. Please know that same brightness for life, the foundations and character building values and tenets that you provided Joey are imprinted on those you have taught. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
