William Edward Nerlich

May 6, 1923 - January 18, 2014 Dr. William E. Nerlich, a former Associate Dean of Students, Associate Dean of Admissions and Professor of Medicine at the University of Southern California spanning 4 decades, died on the 18th of January in Burbank California. He was 90. Dr Nerlich was born in Los Angeles, CA on May 6, 1923, the son of Bertha Schwanz and Charles Nerlich. He grew up in Los Angeles and was educated at Belmont High School, UCLA and USC Medical School. He served as a Captain in the US Army 1943-49. He married Ruth Anne McCormick of Dolores, CO in 1957. His love for medicine and teaching was evident in his dedication and devotion to his work for LAC-USC and USC Medical School until his retirement in 1988 earning Emeritus Professor of Medicine. He was known for his integrity, honesty, devotion and generous mentorship. His wife passed away in 2007. Dr Nerlich is survived by his 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with another on the way. Services held on 31st of January.
