VACCARINO Joseph J. Vaccarino Jr., Union County realtor, 88 Joseph J. Vaccarino Jr., 88, died on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at his residence in Roselle Park. A Funeral Mass will offered at Church of the Assumption, Roselle Park, on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 9:30 a.m. following the funeral from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, at 8:15 a.m. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Born in Johnstown, Pa., Mr. Vaccarino lived in Roselle Park for 60 years. A real estate broker, he owned and operated Carin Realtors in Kenilworth for 35 years, retiring four years ago. Prior to that, he was with the Singer Manufacturing Company in Elizabeth and New York City for many years. Joe served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the European-African Theater. He served with pride in the 121th Liaison Squadron, Fifth Army. He was a staff sergeant, flew many missions and was decorated with the Air Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal and the EuropeanAfrican-Middle Eastern Service Medal with the two Bronze Stars. After he was discharged from the Army, Joe attended Furman University in Greenville, S.C. He held a private pilots license. Joe joined the Union County Board of Realtors in 1977 and served as director on the board for eight years. Throughout his membership, he served on numerous association committees including the nominating committee, the constitution and by-laws, the multiple listing service, strategic planning and finance and education committee. He also served on the associations presidents attorney search task force. Joe had tirelessly donated his time for the purpose of improving his association and earned the respect of his colleagues with honesty, dependability and reliability throughout the years. In 1995, the Union County Board of Realtors presented him with a lifetime achievement award. Civic minded, Joe held a variety of mayoral appointments, serving on the board of trustees of the Roselle Park Library and treasurer for 15 years. He also served as a member of the Committee for Revitalization of Roselle Park, the Committee for Affordable Housing and the Selective Service Committee. He was an usher at the Church of the Assumption for Saturday night Mass. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Gloria (nee Mirabelli); a son, Joseph (Jay) and his wife, Susan; two daughters, Brooke Paskewich and her husband, Ed, and Leslie Vaccarino Lafferty and her husband, Joseph; a sister, Ann Ober, and cherished grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Brian, Kristin and Kyle. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to the Center for Hope Hospice or the Roselle Park Library. DEATH NOTICES

So sorry to hear of Mr. Vaccarino's passing. He is without a doubt one of the warmess and niceness adults I knew growing up. As I got older I admired his strenght, honesty and standing in the community. He always made me feel special even if I just called to speak to Leslie. May his legacy continue throughout the Vaccarino clan and grandchildern. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
