Joseph Wack Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2025.
Joseph Pierre Wack, 63, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on June 16, 2025.

Born on July 18, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, Joe was the son of Joseph Pierre Wack and Marguerite (Peggy) (Murray) Wack.

Joe lived a full and vibrant life. He was a devoted father, a natural storyteller, and someone who could make anyone feel at ease. His children, Kyle (Whitney), Chris, Alex (Sonja), Mara (Nate), Michelle (Avinash), Carly (Zach), were the pride of his life. He also found deep joy in his role as a grandfather.

Joe had a passion for the outdoors. He was happiest with a fishing pole in hand or while out hunting. He loved summers spent at Maple Lake telling stories with family. A lifelong gardening enthusiast and an amazing cook who whipped up the best potato salad and Thanksgiving stuffing.

He was married to Jodi (Erickson) Wack in 1983 and later to Jill Johnson in 1996, who preceded him in death in 2006. Joe was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother Greg Wack.

He is survived by his children and grandchildren (Joseph, Jacob, Ada, Isla); his siblings Catherine (Marion), Madonna (Jon), Monica (Mike), Julie (David), Teeny (James), and countless loved ones and friends who will deeply miss his generous spirit, sharp wit, and kind heart.

A celebration of Joe's life will be Monday, June 23rd from 3 pm - 5 pm at Joe Black's (118 N 3rd Street, Grand Forks, ND, ages 21+). His ashes will be laid to rest in a location that held meaning to him and his family.

In honor of Joe, we encourage you to plant a tree, tell a good story, and crack a beer.
