My Dearest Col. Joe,
The Lord took you away in body but he left us with your heart. You spirit will remain in my heart. Know that you are deeply missed by me. I will never forget you and I know that some day you and I will walk among the stars like we did down here. Love you Mr. Joe

To the family of Mr. Joe
My deepest sympathies to you all. Mr. Joe got me through my tough times of my son in Afghanistan. He was a wonderful man and will always have a place in my heart. The angels took him home so he has no more pain or suffering. Know that he will be truely missed by his friends at Kennies Market in Taneytown.

Mr. Joe as he was known to many of us , was our frequent morning wake-up call at Kennies Market in Taneytown. He always brought a smile and left us with a bit of witty humor. We were deeply saddened to hear of his passing. It was an honor to have known him. He will be missed deeply.

My children and I had the pleasure of visiting Mr. Wasco over the course of the last year at the nursing home he was living in.
"The Colonel", as he was known around the building by the residents and staff, was a warm and open gentleman. A real man's man, imparting my son and daughter with lively anticdotes and wise words they'll take with them throughout their lives. He'd say, "A man only needs a few good friends. Guys who you know will have your back, no matter what.", and "When you get to college, try to do your very best that first year. The parties will still be there when you're a sophmore."
Never wanting attention or overt credit for his war service, he spoke often and very highly of the men he served with throughout his distinguished military career, saying once that the crew with him in Vietnam was one of the best there ever was.
He had a great outlook on life, loved his wife with all his heart, and will be remembered fondly by my family and me.
