This is where we last saw Joe, with Pat, on their last visit in France.
Always peaceful and good-humoured, that's how we'll remember him.

My dad was a good father.. and he most of all raised us and taught us to have respect for each other and our mother and grandparents and all people in general. He was very smart, he was always keenly interested in our world, and he enjoyed life.. he was centered and balanced and respectable.. and he knew how to take care of his family and playing sports and exercising was encouraged. In fact, he enjoyed playing all kinds of games and sports with us.. I remember that he loved learning about meditation and Meher Baba, a guru. His favorite line when I was in high school was.. Don´t worry, Be Happy"... I love and miss my dad.

Dear Pat and family,
Gerhild and Yvon informed us about your loss. We were very sorry to hear that Joe had passed away and we wanted to express our deepest feelings. Gerhild and Yvon were so kind to share this page with us and Jackson and I were moved by the rich life this kind soul has led.
We have quite some fond memories of you and Joe visiting France and of course Berlin. I remember driving through the night to a restaurant which was in a former bakery not so far from Mirepoix. Being on the road Yvon mentioned that you live close by in the summer and we talk about your friendship. Even better, entering this cosy place there you were: sitting with some friends enjoying a wonderful dinner, a roast baked in a bread. It was fun seeing you sharing so much more than just time.
Gerhild and Yvon kept us updated about your activities after you sold the house. It was great to see pictures from now and then f.e. when you stayed with them in South Carolina in 2017. We loved to see those glimpses, seeing that you and Joe enjoy life.
We knew Joe as a friend and of course as an art lover and collector. We knew he had children and so we learned in his obituary that he was a loving father, grandfather, as well as a person who took life by the fullest and took risk to enrich it. Well done Joe!
Sending love from Berlin to you and the family,
Sigrid and Jackson
