Joe was a regular customer at Tex & Shirley's for as long as I can remember. I always enjoyed talking to him. He was a great guy.

Mr. Zahran was my scoutmaster and the father of my good friend "Joey." He was one of the people who really did have an impact on me growing up. He always saw the best in everyone and made you feel good about who you were. His kind, gentle, humor and encouraging spirit must have been built upon strong spiritual discipline and courage. He told great stories around campfires. He really did make me want to be a better person. My deep sympathy and best wishes to Joey and the family.

My Dad called me to tell me that his Best Friend has passed away. He always called him Pineapple. That had been best friends since being college room mates at Carolina. I'm not sure what this was about, but I'm sure there's a good story there. Joe has always been a part of our family. We will miss him dearly.

Not often did I see a father at his (grown) child's party and fit right in. But Mr. Zahran did and had a ball! Always a warm smile to greet me, fun-loving spirit, and such a sweet man who was so so proud of his children. And a heck of a tennis player. Hugs to all of you.

Our deepest sympathy to the entire family. My deep Fayetteville roots include the Zahran/Monsour clan. Our most vivid memories of Joe always included his buddy, Nick Bartis whether it was at Dr. Nick's office or out for coffee. Joe always had a hug and smile for me. May his memory be eternal in your hearts.
Most Sincerely,
Hedy (Vurnakes) and Jim Thevaos
