Your father was a gentleman , and a role model for those who had an opportunity to meet him .
I was fortunate to be a student at St. Paul's College , and he was our Athletic Director ; but unfortunate that High school football was cancelled in my final year , 1953 , because of the Polio epidemic .
His presence in the school was impressive , as a prominent athlete and as a devout Catholic .
Later we were Knights of Columbus in the same Winnipeg Council , and spent many enjoyable evenings together .
For years , I was unable to lactate him , but this past August I sent a message expressing my thanks for the privilege of my experience
I hope it gave him some peace .
I extend my sympathy to the family .

My condolences. You don't know me but I'm a long-time Wpg Blue Bomber fan old enough to know your Dad as a player & a coach. After the glory years of 1958-62 (spoiled by Esks win in 1960) my friend & I had a saying we'd use to urge the Bombers on to greater glory:
'One more time for Joe Zaleski!'
Speaks to the affection fans had for your Dad & hope it gives you a smile.
Cheers, Pat Letendre

Dear Patti, Susan and Nancy - Joe was one in a million! I well remember when he and your Mum arrived in Winnipeg - we met at Sam's and became fast friends. Joe leaned on my Dad for advise and I treasured my friendship with Louise. You are fortunate gals to have had such wonderful parents. We kept close through good times and some that were not so good, and among other things, I treasure the photo that I have, taken in your living room, drinking out of the Bomber's '59 Grey Cup!
Go Bombers Go!
Love, hugs and deepest sympathy to all of you,
Judy

Joe, you will be missed. You were a wonderful neighbour and friend. My son, Victor, always loved to see you, and I always smiled when you affectionately called him "Champ."
I always miss Slater, and I miss Louise too. You can now rest peacefully with Judy, Louise, and Slater. To your other three daughters, I offer my condolence. Though I know they will miss you, I know also they are glad that you do not have to suffer longer.
Rest in Peace, Joe.
Your friend, Greg.
